I've been using Varathane Ultimate Water Base Polyurethane through a spray gun for some time now. Look at this big thread: Using water based products for instrument finishing, Target Coatings 9000 6000 and Varathane WBOk I'm gonna try to get an entry together in the next week or two. I'm gonna do an exotic wood(nerdy) '51 Pbass(exotic wood where its unexpected=extra nerdy) I've ordered a rosewood neck blank and I'm thinking maybe Zebrawood for the body. Finishing has been by far the most time eating part of building so I'm hoping an unfinished rosewood neck will help me get it in on time. Gonna try to stay away from Nitro on this one, I'm hoping to get some suggestions on what to user for finish on the body.
For some reason, your pics won't load on my laptop.Way better than my view
