Winter Build Off 2025 Tele

I installed the new nut this morning. The setup still needs some tweaking, but it's close to being done. The sound is not so great. likely due to the $29 pickups, so perhaps I'll upgrade them at some point. But it seems to play OK. I'm real happy with the look of this bass, and it even balances fairly well on a strap. and very well while playing it seated.
That looks great! I like how the body sort of does a natural ombre fade from the upper 'horn' to the lower bout. 
A real beauty ! Find some good pickups and play it in front of peoples, they need to see it !
If funds allow, Nordstrand makes very good pickups similar to the look of the ones you have.
So I ordered a couple of pickup covers I found on the 'bay and they arrived today. I still have my pickup winder, though all the other accessories, magnet wire, wax, crock pot, etc, were lost in the move. I'm thinking about winding a set of pickups for this build. I can do it for less than $50. I'm thinking about it.

The winder even still works, though I had to replace the rubber band that drives the counter. I have some bar magnets. Now I have to figure out what kind of bobbins I will make. Maybe just some cardboard soaked in super glue, cut to fit the magnets.

The fumes can be overwhelming, use with adequate ventilation...
Can you just cut the plastic thingy? So it's just a layer on the bottom of your bobbin?
Well, I never got a chance to finish the pickups, so I guess I'm going with the existing Amazon special ones. Here's my entry in the partial build category.

Nice Build! Your persistence in the face of setbacks is admirable, I completely stalled on my 4th build, the Alembic Clone due to finish issues. No excuse for it really, I still haven't worked up the gumption to just sand back the finish and try again. In my case I had trouble getting finish to stick to Cocobolo despite shellac grain sealer, epoxy grain fill, wiping with acetone right before finish, etc. I'm not allowing myself to start another build (after I finish the current one) until I finish that one. I've done (1) bass in Watco, seems to have held up pretty well, and lots of furniture. It's stupid easy to apply, and easily "repaired" by adding more, though I still prefer Tru-Oil for it's gloss. Looks great with your other Tele's. We have a local Ren Fair called "King Richard's Faire". It's pretty good, big permanent setup with mutiple buildings they use every year, we took the kids to it for a while. Unfortunately, it's gotten insanely expensive, but maybe that's par for the course. It's borderline too bawdy for kids too, some hilarious but most defintely R-Rated activities and language going down!. At least I know where to go next time I need to buy a Broadsword!
