Winter build off 2026 - Primal Screamray

Got the hole drilled for the jack, and also the strap pins. Think that's about it for the body apart from a control cavity cover. And a lot of sanding.

Think I'm gonna use this so called football style jack plate. Looks more like a rugby ball than a football to me.

I'd highly recommend the electrosocket jack holder. Far superior the the football plate, and a tidier instal (IMHO)

Still looking for reasons not to start sanding, I realised I hadn't made a control cover yet so I did that.

Having previously decided against any comfort carves, I'm now thinking I'll do a belly carve, not because I really need it but A) because I've never done one and B) weight reduction.
(And C. because then I don't need to start sanding,)

Not much to show but I have been plodding along. Mostly sanding, then I shot a couple of coats of clear then a load more sanding.
Couple of thoughts on the super assilex abrasives. Rarely do I try a much hyped product that actually lives up to the hype, but this is one of those occasions. Cuts really fast but leaves a very smooth surface. I've been using the orange 1200 grit, but it cuts more like 600-800 regular wet and dry. Yes it's pricey, but two pieces (one full sheet) did the whole body so a box will last a long time. Very impressed. Oh yeah, and no wet sanding which is amazing. No idea what kind of witchcraft they used but it just doesn't clog, you just wipe it off periodically with a clean cloth.

Should be attempting some kind of burst tomorrow, wish me luck.
