And it shall be called The Singer Songwriter.

I not only heartily approve, I may actually use something similar myself.

Ok, so I've just been talked out of the HO neck joint. It was when the words 'commonly suffer from a broken heel' were uttered that I decided something else might be better. Ouch.

I'll draw up something you can all laugh at. ;)

Thanks, I knew I was asking for something that I could have found through some searching. I appreciate your response saving me that time. I'm going to install one of these in my next bass (after the build off).

Jon mentioned that my open source project might get a lot more traction in this forum. So I'm going to make an effort to hang over here a bit more. I have no room to get into woodworking myself right now, but I will soon have access to a big CNC cutter at the Marco Bass shop, a few hours from here...so you never know!

Ok, so what I'm planning is a mashup of my 000 32" design, a bunch of old guitar/piano part and Nikolai Schorr's 'Owl' semi-acoustic structure.

I've been emailing with Nikolai already. He's a great guy who does some very cool stuff. And here's some preliminary drawing. I've still yet to nail down the neck joint, but it's a floating design. And the tailpiece/string anchors also needs work.

I'd appreciate any comments on getting curves right. I'm super picky about this. Also still tossing up headstock style; ie flat or mitred. Not sure about it yet. Also not sure if it really needs carbon rods.
