Winter Build off - Mash Up - Get Ready

Hey @alder, sorry to be such an ass... Serious shellfish payback going on ...

There is a magnetic pickup a magnetic pickup installed in the cone... It is a variation of the Gibson Mississippi Voodoo guitar (which had a fake resonator)... I have a coupe of the coverplates from that model.

The saddle is usually maple or maple/ebony and can be cut for how ever many strings as are needed.

Off with their Heads! Moonshine Headless Builds incl. Sub Short Scale Travel Basses

one down... four more customer builds to finish up by the end of the year so I will be getting a late start to the festivities. I have decided to put the The Flying Tri Motor V on hold (it will happen, trust me...) but the talk of resonators made me alter my original plans for this build. Still going with the Gibson mashup theme

Here is my current sketch...

(still working on the headstock)

Depending on the delay time, if you don’t plan on keeping the tri cone I’d like first right of refusal!!! If such a thing is allowed...

It's easy to forget how many pro's there are around here because they don't act like they think they're the smartest person in the room.

I hope I didn't come off as arrogant last night... Definitely not my intention. L.C. is my favorite forum here due to the fact that there is some unbelievably amazing builders here and everyone here is treated with respect.

We are all students here, always learning...

That could happen.

I have made a few preliminary sketches... I have to hand it to you @ReasonablyHappy , what a great idea!

I would not be opposed to active if I could accomplish a mid scoop/pass and std treble/bass cut on a rotary switch in one of the roller pot slots. I would definitely have the room for a board in the body. May have to ask around in the diy pedal maker forums to see if I can farm that out.

I have seen someone do a passive mid pass/mid scoop circuit but I may toy with a varitone/amp-esque idea too. Outside of my wiring capabilities though, so I would need to find someone who can.

The passive circuit is pretty easy to do. For an active circuit you could probably use something like a Yellow Humper circuit which has two peaks that could be switched on/off. I'd be happy to help you out since I think we're local

This came up in a Reverb ad on my Facebook. It seems the more weird guitars and basses you look at the more weird guitar and bass ads they send you. :)

A Soviet biscuit tin guitar. The hammertone finish really ties the design together.

Oh dear......:cigar: involved?.....

:D

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how many tweeties are tweeting, afterall, it's what all the birds are tweeting about.

I did get a package from Santa today. It's a very large piece of Bubinga. This is a corner cleaned up a bit.

Does anyone have body dimensions (or better yet, plans) for a Gibson EB Bass or Epiphone Tobias?

My daughter wants a Bass VI with that shape. I already have the aftermarket Telecaster conversion neck and a nice piece of walnut.

Now for me, is an SG shape, Bass VI enough of a mash-up? I'd have to build the neck, so head stock shape is not set yet. There might be enough walnut for both.

I'd say that would be enough for a mash up

I have a Gibson Tobias I could send you a tracing of.
