I agree with nixing the collaboration theme because it limits newcomers. It might be cool if we did a region based competition but logistically that sounds like a nightmare.

My votes are Mothman and Minimalist. I would love to do a double neck but that's mostly because I have an idea and I need an excuse to get a spending authorization from the CFO/ SWMBO.

"Somebody".... with a CNC... cuts a bunch of Identical bodies (inexpensive bolt on).... and sends them out to all entrants... like a kit... but just the body.
The Idea, and fun of it would be how diverse the results would inevitably be...
Customization encouraged.... carve it up!

I don't "own" a CNC... but there's a pretty nice one 10ft from my bench... and I get to use it.

....there would obviously need to be costs involved... but they would be minimal.

I'm only thinking out loud.... (been a long day)
Maybe this was already suggested....
And... personally...
...maybe for next year...
Because I cannot add this type of thing to my plate right now. (Just barely getting back to work)
I just thought it sounded fun.... and fairly feasible.

Umm, being a build challenge, shouldn't we just work from the same plans? How each builder gets from plan to physical body is their own challenge.

As for the Mothman, yeah, I'd go for 'inspired by' to allow room for creativity/actually making something ergonomic.

Agree on the "inspired by" for the mothman, but the body should definitely resemble a moth or butterfly type shape/design.
