Winter NAMM 2017 (ultra Pic-heavy)

In the AMPEG room, this nice bass player helped to answer my questions.

He says, the new Scrambler and Classic are similar to if you split the SCR-DI into 2 pedals. However, he likes the Overdrive on the Scrambler better than on the SCR-DI.

I could only fine one little ol' bass hiding in here. The room was packed. I'm lucky I got the shot that I did.

I'll just come out and say it, I really dislike Jackson's pointy in-line headstocks.

The moment so many of you have been waiting for...

This guy was the bass player in the room. He was very friendly and informative.

The only new bass pedal that BOSS is hawking is the SY-300 Guitar Synthesizer.

I asked him if it's a guitar synth, how well can it be applied for the bass. He claimed it was great for bass as well as guitar, and gave me a few demos of the different sounds he could get with it. He seemed authentic to me.

I went back to the REVEREND booth to check out the Wattplower.

It's very, very light. So, the biggest question on my mind was, does it neck dive? I put it to the test.

The answer is, some. It wasn't as bad as the Orange bass, but it did drop a little. I have a fabric strap, which was somewhat gripping to my shirt. I think if I had a smooth leather strap, it would have dropped more.

So, what was I doing on the main floor looking at the Wattplower instead of being upstairs and taking pictures of the rooms I had yet to visit? I didn't want to miss @TonyP- 's performance. I was early, so I had time to go around the corner to Reverend's booth and make it back in time for the exhibition at Mike Lull's booth. I was razzing Tony, telling him that I was missing a Remco jam to see him, so he better deliver. I realized later that could be taken the wrong way, so if it sounded offensive to you, Tony, please accept my apology.

To start, here was his setup.

And then, the man in action.

I have to say, Tony is my kind of player. He was really digging in, and you could tell that the little booth space was confining him. He was moving around in there, and really getting into his playing. He was a beast! He told me earlier about how often he changes his strings, because he get so sweaty playing, and I can see why. The best part was, as hard as he was playing, he had such great control, feel, and dynamics. If you have a chance to catch him playing somewhere, you absolutely don't want to miss it.

And, since I felt like I was close to the Hammersmith booth, I thought I'd run by to see if there was anything going down. I wasn't disappointed.

TJ was very nice, and answered a lot of questions. He had his custom Hammersmith, and I wanted to catch a picture of that blocked neck.

This dude was at the booth, too, but my memory fails me (and I lost some of my notes!).

Those two guys were pretty busy. I'm glad they took a break and chatted with me.

So I looked around and around and around, and I couldn't find any Squier. They were listed, but out of sight. So, I finally asked someone. They were in here:

Appointment only! Well, may I come in, just to take some pictures? No problem.

And that was pretty much it for the Squiers.

But they did have some Fenders in the room, too.

Then there was this Fender Bassbreaker. Never heard of it. I don't think it's new, but it looked pretty cool. Anyone here have any experience with one?

And that's it! I hit all the halls and all of the floors. Now I could just walk around and try to catch anything I may have missed, and maybe relax a little.

So, back to the Hammersmith booth, and I catch Andy Irvine jamming! I swear, the Hammersmith booth always seemed to have something going on. Maybe I just had great timing.

Then, I see this booth, and I'm not sure if I've seen it already. So, just in case...

Remco does a quick little jam, it's seriously about 1 minute long (so I could test the video on my camera).

And what happens! THE MAN GETS US DOWN! Too loud. Apparently, the Hammersmith booth has had enough warnings, so they get written up. YOU CAN'T KILL ROCK N' ROLL, NAMM!
