thanks for posting those Low-down impressions. I like the fact that they have Nordstrands in them, that's no doubt a key reason they sound so good. Something I'm gonna check out because you had me at "lower price and custom"

Nord makes some killer pickups and I really dig their preamp as well. It's always nice to work with a company where you know that you can email/call and will always get a quick response.

More LTD.

I don't hear much about LTD here on TB. Who plays these? What's your take?

I have a couple ESP LTD basses. A f-415fm and a viper 404 setup bead. I really dig the f-415fm and play it a lot. I like the sound and look of the viper and it's noticeably lighter but it does have neck dive issues. I would compare them to midrange Spector basses not like Spector legend or high end stuff but more like the rebop level at a much better price and cooler (IMO) shapes. They both have nearly identical specs outside of being a 4 and a 5. Very similar tuners and bridges, both have mahogany body and flamed maple tops. They have emg 40dc pickups for The f-415fm and 35dc pickups in the viper. The f-415fm is neck through and the viper is set neck. Work great for my band (originals hard rock)

my entire band actually uses LTDs also. Lead guitar player has two eclipses and a green Stephen Carpenter 6 loaded with EMGs. Singer plays the ltd TL-6 thinline acoustic electric.

Was really hoping to see a better picture of the new ltd TL-5sm thinline bass. I caught a glimpse of it in a walk through video on YouTube but it's crappy quality. That's it on the bottom left below the TL-4z

When you get maybe 12 inches of rain in the whole year (with about 3 inches in the past several drought years). Then you get 10 inches in the past 2 weeks, it's a big deal.

I know nothing.

Actually, from what I could gather many or even most of the basses in at least the boutique builders' booths had already been sold before the show even started. The booth I was in featured one bass and one amp that are just proof of concept things that are not really for sale though, and I'm sure there were many more examples of that to be found throughout the show.

Rain is one thing, but floods are a whole different thing. I've only experienced one big one in 30+ years living on this side of the country, but I can only imagine the impact of that in a place as car dependent as SoCal.

We've had two nearly Biblical floods in 17 years. It's amazing how quickly this one left the news cycle. There are thousands of displaced North Carolinians and piles of debris from flooded homes still line the highways I drive every day. And you never see anything about it.

Yep, I know since I have family in NC. I flew out of SNA after the show, so I missed all the angst I read about with people using LAX or driving home to other parts of CA or beyond.

Someone may correct me, but I don't believe Sire had a booth at NAMM. I was looking out for them and couldn't find them on the app either. I wanted to take a look at an M7 Fretless if they had one.

A lot of the stuff at the beginning of the pics was likely from "downstairs", which is a mix of fairly small/obscure companies along with a huge corral of Chinese/Korean/Indonesian brands/companies with various knock-offs and oddities.

Hall E was a fun place to be. We (Boom Bass Cabinets) were down there along with Trickfish, Eich, LoPhat, Mike Arnopol (MAS/Sonic Farm), Wayne Jones, etc. We spent time hanging out with the crew from Paul Lairat Basses, the small builder vibe was very cool on the "bottom" floor. ELEGEE from the Phillipines had some interesting custom basses, even had a miniature Marcus Miller 4.
