Now, since we (again, this means you) have established that the meaning of the term "colloquialism" is known to all present, surely you cannot be taking a pot shot (which, incidentally, is another colloquialism) at me for not quoting the question verbatim, and instead employing phraseology most often found in spoken conversation?
Of course I can, this is due to the fact that your misrepresentation of the literal/factual meaning of my original question would lead the conversation to an irrelevant conclusion.
If every tom, dick and harry followed your demented train of thought, then it would be extremely hard to reach a relevant agreed point... as your incorrect deployment phraseology (unless you can explain to me how you came to conclude that the literal meaning of my OP was my father believed/implied it was winter all the time?) just leads to confusion as people are then conversing with incorrect information.
A) I didn't state which theory I or my father stated
B) I didn't state at any point that either of us believed it was winter all the time.
Of course I understand that this was just a poor attempt at humour... however your attempt at validating it intellectually... even hypothetically... is really quite foul. It's almost tantamount to bullying, if your purpose is to try and highlight the fact that intellectually i'm not even able to argue against such a weak point such as yours?
I'm sorry but all you've done is stupefy the thread matey and if it was already below your intellectual bar, why enter the fray in the first place?
Also, this is getting sig'd.
Niiiice.
Again the question wasn't where winter occurs but when (I used Italy and Australia as examples), nice use of phraseology guys, really makes a 16 yo kid want to grow up to be a sarcastic, unhelpful, ass who corrupts information for their own lame ends... just like j00 gaiz.
WOOOO!
Thanks again to everyone who provided useful and accurate information, to everyone else, good luck with the internet... you're gonna need it boiz.
