Wire gauge

Hi there everyone. I've been using some very thin wire, don't know the exact measure, suffice to say it's thinner than what you usually see in a control cavity. I used it into my Spector and had no trouble, but i just got my first pickup swapping job and i was wondering if the wire gauge can affect anything other than the difficulty of the installation. Makes no difference. The current draw is very low, Skin depth does not come into play at audio frequencies, and ESR is not a big deal with the signal impedance.

ESR? Also, using shielded wire would help for interference? Or am i better off with some copper shielding?
