Wire suggestions

What type of wire do you use for electronics? I do have some of the old cloth wrapped guitar wire, but I need really short segments, and it tends to slide too much for this type of wire. I also have some sprinkler wire and am thinking of just separating out all the internal cores and having a bunch of narrow multicolored wires for wiring. It is something like this:

Southwire 500 ft. 18/4 Gray Stranded CU CL3R Shielded Security Cable-57573044 - The Home Depot

Or do you have any other recommendations? I don't want to have to order wires online so I can avoid the time for shipping. Lowes and Home depot have where you can buy this type of stuff by length, so a meter of it could cost as little as $1 depending on what I use.

I haven't bought wire for guitars... ever, come to think of it. There's enough junk electronics in the world that you can just take the cover off and snip out what you need.

FWIW, not a fan of cloth-covered wire. There are reasons it's no longer used commercially. Looks cool, I'll give you that.
