I have a pair of yamaha billy sheehan attitude basses that I have loved and played for around 13 years. They have both been modded to use only the dimarzio p-pickup and a volume knob since I know longer run two amps. I also own an attitude standard which has a p and j pickup set. I love the growl that you can get with a p and j in parallel so, I decided to wire just the p in the sheehan bass in parallel.
I love it! much more top end and very clear. There isn't a huge drop in volume like others have said. The dimarzio is very high output so, maybe that helps. I plan to install a switch for series/parallel since I love both tones. Series has more low mids and is alittle dark. Parallel is brighter, with alittle less low end. Both are very good and very usable. Im going to gig with it in parallel tomorow and then wire in a switch when I get the chance. Anyway, a very simple way to get two very different tones out of one p-pickup!
