Wireless Systems.

lots of love for the line 6 relay, as it's digital and thus has no compression ("companding") and has full-bandwidth CD-type frequency response. (i like my G50.)

Yup - Line6 is where it's at... Either the G50 Walter recommended, which you would have to fasten into your rack(velcro, tie straps, etc..), the more expensive - but made to be racked - G90... Or, the used and cheaper alternatives: XDS-PLUS instead of the G50, or XDR-95 instead of the G90... The drawbacks of the older XDS-PLUS and XDR-95 are that they run thru 9v batteries pretty quickly(about 5-6 hours per), but that's well solved by getting some Hi-Tech Li-Ion rechargeables from Batterymart.com - I'm getting atleast 50-60 4 hr shows out of one Hi-Tech 9v, so they're both economical AND green...

I'll finish by saying that I know atleast 4 people currently using G50s - including one of my guitarists - and they all love the G50...

what about the smaller g30?

If it were me, I'd spend the extra $$$ for the G50, for the increased range and added features... I figure that additional range will decrease my chances of a dropout, and it has worked out that way with my XDR-95... I've heard of a few people experiencing dropouts with the XDS-95, but never had a single one with my XDR-95...

I had trouble with the XDS-95, but I went to the XDS Plus and haven't had a single drop out. So I'd go for at least the XDS Plus, or G50 as opposed the the plain XDS or G30.

Line 6 is is the correct answer for wireless these days. I've been running the G30 for about 2 years now. No problems with dropouts, sounds much better than any analog wireless I've used, and I've used a lot, including the top of the line Shure and Sennheiser units.

However, I will go ahead and suggest spending the extra $ on the G50 or G90, because the plastic casing of the G30 transmitter isn't incredibly durable, particularly the clip. Mine broke off about 6 months ago. Granted, that was after a year and a half of gigging 4-5 nights a week, every week, but still.

Another vote for the G50 (or if you NEED a rack setup: the G90). I've had mine for over a year, and it's been to Europe, South America, USA, and Canada with me, plus I use it regularly at rehearsal. Never had so much as a hiccup, and I can't hear a difference between it and my George L's cables! It's easy on AA batteries too.

Cheers!

I've had about the same experience... I've had the G30 for about a year and have used it both on gigs and practice with good results except for breaking the plastic holding the clip (super glue fixed that...).
