Wiring Newbie

Ok, I've got an Epiphone EB-3 and I'm working on new pups. I've got the Model One installed ok, now I've got a cheep Firebird pup for the bridge position and I'm screwing up.
Photo of what I did:

In the pic above, the black wire is attached to the Tone pot. The green is attached to the Volume pot. I think where I've attached it is the problem.

Here's the diagram:

Red and white are tapped and isolated.
Green is soldered to the back of the volume and black is soldered to the back of the tone pot.
I think green is incorrect - but I don't know which tab I should attach to on the volume pot.
Anybody here know the answer? At this point the bridge p'up makes no sound.

You've soldered your signal lead to ground by attaching that blue/green wire to the back of the volume potiometer. Assuming I'm deciphering your photo correctly, you want that to go to the lug of the potentiometer instead, so your signal isn't permanently shorted/killed.

This is how a volume pot is usually wired so all the way clockwise is full volume and counterclockwise is off.

Your question has been answered above, but I would also suggest that you get some old gear and practicing your soldering. You're either not getting the surface hot enough for the solder to flow, it's not clean enough or not properly tinned. All of those are likely to be a problem down the road, (noise or failure). You may well just have used too much solder but it does not look like that. How to solder

I'm just not set up properly to work and am a little harried.

I got the p'ups wired in, but the bridge p'up is only always on full, and the tone knob does nothing. Getting a local tech cat I know to fix it up.
When life settles down a bit I'll sit with it and get the skills together.

Yes, AK is correct - pickup hot should be going to the middle lug. My quick photo-mark-up missed the mark. Eyes played tricks on me when I looked at your photo earlier. None the less, back of the pot is always ground, so no pickup signal can enter the circuit there.

Nice choice on the Dimarzio, by the way. Those make for a great sounding neck pickup

Yeah I've had the Model One before. This one's been through some kind of abuse, looks like it was filed at the edges. Weird, it came with a swap deal. But it works!
