When did the "Hyper" become a "Hipper"?
Was it a typo?
It was around #969. Another manufacturer claimed the name...
I suspect this one but it looks more like a Stude than Hyper.
Wish's are hipper anyway.

Wow, that's really interesting. I thought it was a typo. No matter what though, my ash #808 will stay a Hyper, and it is hipper!

Thunderitter; Well, no, not all (my bad). Most of them, here and there, but not thru Photobucket, so I have to delete the images after a while to make room for any new ones. A complete written list of my stuff is within my profile, however. My biggest problem is time - I am in the process of remodeling my house as preparation for moving and between that, playing music and working, I seem to never have much time for the whole photo thing. I will try to squeeze out some images though, maybe a big group shot? (Wish has my walnutt JB though, due to neck warpage - so I don't know when I get that one back.) I was thinking of making a Wishbass gallery at some point. I've been saving pics of other Wishbasses for awhile.
As I have been hunting for a 34" Fretless 5 string that I can afford, I am intrigued by Wishbass... But I have questions...
Does anyone find the lack of adjustable bridge to be an issue?
How are the necks? Thick? Thin? I'm one of those difficult guys who really likes THIN necks, ala Zon / Pedulla...
Aside from that, they look very fun!

i don't know about all of the diff wish styles, but i do know that on my singlecut "Lobe", the neck is thick. twice as thick as the neck on my shecter. it's almost like playing on a double bass neck.
I've got my 4 string's intonation spot on with the 'adjustable' bridge. I eyeballed what I thought looked right and was happy to find that it was: see pic below.
Now, necks, well, think of a bass with a reputation of a having a thick neck - say Warwick - and then think a little thicker and you have a Wishbass neck! Part of Steve W's design philosophy is no truss rod, and to do that without warping issues you need a thick neck. He will do a truss rod on a custom order, but I would suspect you will still get a fairly thick neck! I've never had an issue with thick or thin necks so I don't notice the neck on my Wishbass at all.
They are definitely fun - for $300-$400 a bargain IMHO. I've had a lot of doubters out there change there view after playing mine! They sounds great.
Been on here since 2006, I think I actually found TB due to a wishbass! well, I went back and found all the pics I could on this thread, and I don't know if you can find it, but there was a thread once called "Buy A Wishbass" where various TB members chipped in and reviewed/lost/found/shipped to others/ripped on/etc. and lost again - a wishbass. there were two threads.
definately worth reading if you have an entire day to waste with it.
I never kept much track of the info on these basses, but just even the serial numbers would help.
Sir: About Wish's bridges - well, actually they are adjustable, you just do it a bit differently than turning a set screw or two. So, I don't believe that is an issue once you get past the "unknown" factor it seems to present.
Necks are a different deal though. Based on your own description, you may not be suited for a Wishbass. I own 7 Wish basses, all different and 2 of them have necks that are thinner than the average Wish - reality is though, that even these are beefier than most anything else. Also, Wish's necks can also be wide in addition to thick. It is stricktly personal taste if this feels good to someone, and ergonomics too. My Wish #168 has a very narrow neck (by Wish standards) yet is very fat - and I find this one the most comfortable of all! It really feels good to me but I would never have guessed that until I got my hands around it.
What can we say? These are pieces of folk art (IMHO) and each one is bit different. You can always buy one and sell it later if it doesn't agree with you. Market seems to be good right now for Wish's work. Good luck!

Hmmm, that's a shame about the neck. I have really small hands, so a massive neck wouldn't suit me well. Ah well, I'll find somebody else that does affordable customs.
can you snap a quick photo of said neck from the side so we can visualize exactly what you are talking about here?
I dont mean to sound like a jackass or anything lol, but I can't take wishbasses seriously. Not after the youtube video of wish himself playing his own bass.
I lose a bit of faith everytime I watch this video.
