BTW, the LED's on that bass were FretFx. I have them on three of my WB and they are fantastic. They look cool, they help my intonation, and they look cool. But they are only $80..................

How does the brain unit attach itself to the back side of the headstock? How much weight are we talking about? They do look kool as long as you don't turn the bass over (IMO) ...
Yes, as all my WB's are 34" scale. And surprise, surprise, the FretFx were more accurate than some of my aluminum side dots
Also, the fretless LED's, unlike the fretted version, (I have both) have a light at the first fret. I can't express how helpful this is in playing with proper intonation, at least for a fretless newbie like me. (playing fretted for 32 years, fretless for 3.)The "brain" is nothing more than a battery compartment and a 3 way toggle, hi/low/off. Mostly plastic, a little aluminum, and it takes those 25 cent sized coin batteries. VERY light weight. The battery compartment and the LED array all attach with double sided sticky stuff, no holes, no permanent mods. It's all on the FretFx website. BTW, I have no financial interest in the company, I just love, em. It's true, they are not as inconspicuous as LED's installed in your custom made Alembic, but they aren't an expensive upgrade either. Besides, when the lights are on, no one notices the wire and battery box. Still, if it was just about looking cool I wouldn't bother with them. Did I mention how much they help my playing? Even when there is plenty of light, the LED's are like beacons, leading my errant finger to the right spot.

Well, just went to the Fretfx site for the first time in a while, my purpleheart Scarab is right at the top of the testimonial page, a little further down is an older family shot with my Standard and my Scroll in front, behind the Scroll is my Alembic Epic and then an old Hohner I have since passed on to a friend. And then down further is a nice shot of my Scroll. So yes, I like the lights...........
Since you have to install them yourself, Roz, the proprietor, requests photos of the working array in order to start your warranty. That's why I sent in so many pictures. They choose to include them in the testimonial page because Wishbasses look so freakin cool............

That video clip should not have been made. We were all hanging around near his backyard shop after shooting my (lousy) Wishbox demo and Wish's wife wanted to film Wish and his good friend (guitarist). Wish had a few Wishbasses to chose from and grabbed one that was not at all in tune. His friend started strumming and Wish unfortunately didn't stop to tune the bass, so he just f***ed around with the tune as a joke. I joined in on a SlapDrum to add to the humor.
Wish is truly a great musician and can indeed play bass very well, though guitar is his main instrument. It's just a shame that his wife posted that clip on YouTube.
BTW, the YouTube clip by Carmassi is a great example of what most Wishbasses will sound like.
Pete; Thanks for clearing the air on this! I for one, am sick of hearing about this clip. I have never watched it all the way thru because of how slow my computer is, but one isolated playing interval never paints a complete picture of the person. Besides, even if he wasn't all that hot a player, it doesn't mean he can't build instruments.

I'm new to TalkBass and am glad to see so many WishBass fans. I became aware of Steve and his basses only a few years ago and have since become a huge fan and an outspoken supporter. In many ways he reminds me of Will Rogers... a seemingly humble and intelligent person with a common sense approach that is almost revolutionary.

Welcome aboard! I'm a huge fan too (and the evidence of same can be seen a few pages back), all since April when I stumbled across an Ebay auction under the category of "Custom Bass Guitar". It's kool too, that you are outspoken in favor of - seems like there are more than enough from the opposite camp who are just as outspoken. Perhaps some time you could share some info about any Wishbasses you might own, or hope to.
Say, I just emailed Wish to tell him happy birthday and he wrote me back that my JB is close to being fixed. He said he thinks he can repair it without having to put in a truss rod. I'll know for sure in a day or two. Yay!
There certainly are. And I've found that many of these individuals have an ignorant and narrow minded interpretation of what a bass is and they confuse personal opinions with facts.
My custom electronics-free Hyper is ready! Walnut body is all I know about it.
