my striped wishbass, this is the best soundind wishbass and one of the best soundind fretless basses i have ever played

i like the way this bass sounds and plays more than my uncle CT bass

how would i go about getting a different control plate? preferrably one made of rosewood.

He is in the process of making one to standardize the shape. We're calling this a prototype.

what i did was cut out a piece of aluminum to the shape i wanted and put a walnut vineer over it (you could use rosewood) then i glued the vineer onto the aluminum and beveled the edge with a drum sander. i was going to use a solid piece but then it would have a potential for cracking

I got Wish to make me a couple of flamed maple ones (veneer). I think it was $25 for two, shipped.

The unplugged volume is similar to any solid body bass...not intended to sound like an acoustic instrument. This is a semi-hollow design with the neck running through the body. When plugged in, it has incredible depth and growl and punchier tone than any Wishbass I've played. It is very well balanced...hangs perfectly during standing play. I hope to record a YouTube Video soon.

Hey there.
I bought the 6 string bobwestbrook was selling and I love it. I've been thinking about ordering a 4 string fretted wishbass and adding a tremolo bridge to it. Thoughts? I want to add the trem because I feel very ackward playing a four string with out one and my music utilizes it alot.

I'm really considering a wish for my next bass. I like a lot of things about them, but i just cant get over the headstock. Will he make a more standard style headstock? but as long as I'm getting that done, i might as well draw up a body shape and get a complete custom.
Opinions?

You can ask Wish, but I seriously doubt he would create a "closed" traditional headstock.

Be sure to cut out your shape on 1/8" plywood or similar hard material to send Wish after you design your Wishbass body. It makes it easier for him to replicate the shape. Be sure that the dimensions will fit a standard bass gig bag or case (if that matters to you). He's known for making basses that are next to impossible to find a case for...though he does have a friend who builds custom cases for $125+.

Does anybody slap on there wish? I play some slap bass and love the sounds I get out of my 6 string wish when I slap. Should I put a finish on the end of the fingerboard to keep it from chipping? Would roundwounds damage an unfinished rosewood fingerboard?

What kinds of strings do you all use?

To restate my question from earlier that was ignored. What are peoples thoughts about putting a tremolo bridge on a fretted 4 string wish?

Depends on what you mean by damage...will roundwounds wear the fingerboard, yep...the solution, when it gets bad have the fingerboard planed and start again.

I don't understand why anyone would use a vibrato (vibrato=change in pitch, tremolo = change in amplitude) tailpiece on a bass in the first place. If you wanna do that to your bass, go nuts!

By damage I mean chipping at the end of the fingerboard where the string hits when I slap.

Check post number 728 in this thread for that answer and the actual name of the bridge is a tremolo bridge even though it is the wrong term.

Rosewood fingerboards are generally unfinished. If it became a problem you could bevel the end of the board so the string never contacted the very end of it...or install one fret.

OK...since the Wish would be fretless, can't you just simulate the whammy bar with your left hand (assuming that you play right handed)? Beyond that, a Wish is a bass like any other and (assuming that the string spacing is appropriate) you can probably install any manufactured bridge/tailpiece you want (although some would require more woodworking than others).

Please reread my posts in this thread. I said said twice that it would be fretted. So, no I couldn't simulate a trem. bridge very well with my left hand.
