high comedy was the one that closed today with a buy-it-now of $300.

Didn't sell.

The #1 and #2 bidders bid $295 and $299 respectively. That's just silly, I mean I'm cheap, but damn, that's REALLY cheap!.

Keep watching... Wish will sometimes put the same bass back up for $200 Buy It Now and it'll sell in 15 minutes. Folks either have dumb luck or they have eBay send them an email to their mobile phone when Wish starts an auction.

I added Amboyna Knobs, and the bridge
eventually, I'd like to do a refinish on it.

Curious - how did adding the new bridge affect the sound?

I really can't tell.

I've spent most of my playing time on basses with metal bridges, like this one. So, to be honest, I don't know. I never really liked the fact that his bridges were not anchored (so every time you change strings, you have to make sure it's in the right place), and unadjustable.

looks frickin' cool, though. don't it?

I've been playing bass and guitar off and on (mostly WAY off) for thirty years; this is my first frettless and I love it. However, I'm not sold on the B string yet, and I'm still trying find a place to put my thumb (no jokes).

Still using the round wounds wish originally put on it. Based on some comments in the Harmony Central user review forums I bought some Rotosound flats, but haven't tried them yet.

I've got other instruments with floating bridges (mandolins, banjos, archtop). Just change 1 string at a time, like the double-bass guys do. Yeah, makes it hard to polish the fingerboard, but I suppose if I wanted to pull off all the strings, I could tape down the bridge.

Not like it's an issue for a Wish, but lots of hollowbody instrument makers recommend the one-string-at-a-time approach to keep fairly consistent tension on the neck and top.

Well, as promised heres the pics of my new 8 string JB Wishbass. These pics are 'straight from the box', so there has been no fiddling around with the bass yet.

Straight off though I can say that the tone is great real nice deep sounds...but the bass does need work. The obvious things are theones that Wish makes us aware of - the finish etc and to be honest I'm looking forward to this part of it - sort of makes it more 'my' wishbass.

One of the main things I intend to do is change the bridge. A one piece bridge really is no use for an 8 string bass. I intend to replace the existing with an 8 saddle bridge, but retain the through body nature of the strings.

The neck is incredibly thick, not really a problem as I tend to wear my Dean 12ver higher than my 4's, about waist high ,so it really shouldnt matter. I've included a pic of my bass rack and you can clearly see the thickness of the neck alongside my Aria, Rick, and Dean 12.

Its gonna be a bumpy ride, but I'm looking forward to it!!!

Left to right you have Dean Rhapsody 12 string, the Wishbass, Aria Sb Elite II, 1979 Rickenbacker 4001, Fender MIJ P Bass, crappy guitar, and last but not least Takamine Semi Acoustic Bass

I also have a JB. I'll be interested to see what kind of bridge you replace the existing one with - there doesn't appear to be much room.

Just joined the club tonight!

Taking on board what you said BillyB, I bought #827, which was previously listed at $400 and having not sold when it came back tonight at $300 I hit the BIN! Beauty is in the eye.. as someone has previously said and I dig this fantasy shape.

In case anyone points it out I do realise that the 'bridge' is awfully close to the pup - maybe some issues there - and I've got my sandpaper standing by just incase, but for $300......!

Congrats!

I'd been keeping my eye on that one too. I think it's one of the nicest looking ones Wish's put up recently, my main objection was the location of the PU as well -- let us know how it sounds!
