I dunno? General discourse? We can critique the works of others, why can’t we critique their beliefs as well? If he wasn’t interested in spurring discussion, why would he bother to share his thoughts online?

1st of all, rumor. nothing more needs said there. especially if its only in your head and there is no evidence of it.

2nd: even if its true, regardless of being Eddie's son, he was a kid joining Van Halen. doubt he had much veto power over anything. and if it is true, doesnt it show him more so as having experience with it and not liking or approving of it, rather than being a hypocrite?

doesnt it give the point of view more power if the person saying its bad has actually tried it? if you were forced to eat brussel sprouts as a kid but as an adult choose not eat them, are you a hypocrite, or a grown up that has had experience and is now able to make their own choices? I dont even believe the backing track thing to be true, my issue is the logic used to draw such a ridiculous conclusion that hes a hypocrite, if it happened to be true.

I'm not sure I understand. If someone was once guilty, or vaguely accused of a thing, they are therefore not entitled to an opinion of the thing? I used to do things I no longer do and I have opinions about those things. This seems like a common occurrence in the world.

it used to be called experience and gaining wisdom, now its hypocrisy. logic is losing to ignorance.

I guess if he never copped to doing what he was accused of but was still critical of it he'd be a hypocrite.

That’s what I’m looking for. I vaguely remember someone stating that he wasn’t actually playing live when he first joined van halen.

Must be pretty bored to throw stuff like this around based on vague remembrances. People were (and are) so salty and often jealous when WVH comes up.

I never heard anything about backing tracks when Wolfgang joined VH.

I would find it hard to believe that Eddie would have ever used them. It's well documented that he pretty much lived for playing guitar.

In Alex Van Halen’s memoir he said Wolfgang is really 2 kids stacked up in a suit pretending to be a grown man. Sammy also confirms this. Eddie never knew this.

If he expresses negative opinions about musicians who use backing tracks and it also turns out he used them then BY DEFINITION those are hypocritical statements. What is there to question about that? Not much. Just show both are true and you have your answer. Not sure why anyone would really care though.

You're not sure why a fan of his, or his dad's, would care? I don't but I'm not a huge, no pun intended, WVH fan.
