I have absolutely nothing against men, but sometimes the bro stuff gets a little overwhelming, with the "I back a hot singer babe" sort of threads, and the same attitudes pervading lots of other forum content.

It's a similar experience on some motorcycle forums I'm on, especially Harley Davidson forums. Most of them have a women--only forum that can be sort of a respite from the overwhelming maleness of the main forum membership. I would like to suggest something similar here.

Again, truly nothing against guys ... it would just be nice to have a place where the ladies could talk about things amongst ourselves sometimes.

But we can still read your posts and make fun of you. :hyper::hyper::hyper:

A great idea.

At the very least, you could start a "Women only!" megathread or something like that to discuss whatever it is you gals feel like. Similar to the LGBTQ thread, which I believe has been ongoing for quite some time now.

For what it's worth, I don't think the "I back a hot singer babe!" thread adds anything to these forums whatsoever. I know attraction to the opposite sex (or same sex, whatever, no judgment from me) is a natural part of human nature. I just think there's a time and place to discuss it, and I don't think this forum should be that place.

I think this sounds reasonable. I will put the question to the moderators and see what the consensus is.

There’s unfortunately far, far too few female members to support a subforum- it would simply be a ghost town. What you’re welcome to do is start a thread for the subject- it would be best placed in Miscellaneous so you could discuss any variety of topics. Moderating the thread will take extra work, so we’d just ask that you report any trolling posts to us when you see them.

Even as a bro, the "I back a hot singer babe" thread is probably past its expiration date.

There’s actually quite a few of us that have been against this thread for a while as well- it should probably come to a close.

What exactly will there be to moderate? The current trolling rules will apply or course...blatant trolling or disrespectful comments that are off topic....but will any post from a man be moderated? What if someone doesn’t specify their gender? Will they be asked to identify and then not post if they’re a man? All the anti trolling rules make sense. No politics and religion makes sense. You can exclude topics. How can you exclude a gender? If these “bro” threads are offensive, there’s an easy way to not be offended. You don’t look. If they’re offensive by their very nature than the powers that be can delete them.

I say just go ahead and create the safe space. Might as well. Then, when a woman gets offended because some “bro” says they think a particular female is attractive they can go vent how awful that particular “bro” is.

I am already a supporting member, @Stumbo, but had forgotten about the Lobby - thank you. @Groove Doctor, I definitely use the ignore function as needed. I apparently have some responders to this thread on ignore, actually, as I see the "show ignored content" option.

I did find an ongoing thread for female bassists, and am participating in it now. Thanks for the discussion!
