Wood grain ash or alder

Not a tone wood thing just asking about the grain pattern. I’ve had this bass for a while I’m pretty sure it is alder but a friend I was jamming with said it’s ash. For my own piece of mind what do you think?

looks like a '74-75 p bass to me. What's the serial number of the bass?

Cool! It doesn’t look as grainy as I imaged ash to be. It is a 76 according to the logo style and serial number and is actually under 10 pounds
