That's an interesting experience with string gauge, my experience has been similar. I do alot of waffling back and forth between gauges due to liking certain attributes of each, honestly that "in between" set that Fodera makes is pretty great, I think it's 30 42 63 etc or something like that.

My hunch is that one of these chronos's will end up with TI jazz flats or the elites flats that I've heard alot about. I really like flats on a 6 but not when it's my only 6.

I've settled on regular gauge DRs on my 33" bass(es), having played lighter gauge DRs on 34" basses previously.
However I've recently tried SIT Silencers on another 33" bass and really liked them. Got a pair waiting to go when my Black Beauties ware out. The seemed to be a nice comprise between flats and roundwounds.
I'll report back once I've given them a proper go...

Great sounds with the new chronos in the studio today!

I had the pleasure of playing Jake's new semi hollow Beast...
The bass is really quite amazing sounding. Strong fundamental
with complex midrange and very smooth hi end. Light as a feather and great fit and finish.

I think the only thing that bugs me about the new bass Jake is the lack of upper fret access. If the frets are there than you should be able to get to them.

yeah, its a bit blocked up top. I can get to 26 pretty easily, but the last two are kinda off limits for my mortal fingers.

Hey that's a great bass Jake.
I'm sure alot of us are wondering how it sounds, but I'm sure you'll provide us with some sound clips further on:D

Anyways I'm sorry to say I have some rough times atm and I am forced to sell some of my gear as a result of that.
One of which is my beloved chronos "Al Green"... if anyone would be interested in this remarkable bass please send me a pm.

here are some pics I'll post some more this week.

Hey bram, sorry to hear that you're having to part with that beautiful green chronos, it's an amazing looking bass, and the specs look killer, I'll try to spread the word. Can you post or pm me your asking price, shipped to the US?

I will be able to post some sound clips of the HB soon, I've got album session coming up, and it will get alot of use I think. I only had a few days really to check out the bass before leaving on my honeymoon (greetings from tropical Belize!) and Im excited to get home and dig back in. The bass is really spectacular, the sound, feel, and look are beyond expectation. even though it's proving to have a learning curve due to how its resonance and "hollowness" affects it in different rooms/at different volume levels. Luckily the custom sp2 with the sweepable mid stack is perfect for finding the occasional troublesome frequencies and cuts them just right. Really glad I added this mod to that preamp, especially for this basses full bodies nature.

Anyhow, back to the beach!

Hi Jake,

Yeah it's a real bummer, life is expensive when not much is comming in that's for sure. I need the money to bridge another job which hopefully lies ahead. This bass was specially made for me and features chambers and a 3 piece ash neck which give's it a very strong warm full tone, (the sound of a bass lies in the neck guys!!!) which anybody who loves garrison/gwizdala would appreciate. It also has a touch wider string spacing great for four finger technique.
By the way, I'll be in LA pretty soon attending the Namm show (present from my father) So I can bring it with me saving the shipping costs.
I'll send you a pm for the price Jake.

Regards,

Bram
