Woodstock 50 Canceled

So, after 3 disastrous festivals (one of which is remembered fondly), they decided to call it quits?

The origin of what that festival was all about is no longer. They keep trying to re-create the festival where IMHO it makes more sense just to create a festival of their own but do NOT call it Woodstock.

I’m glad they cancelled it the lineup was very depressing and not worthy of being called Woodstock. The lineup for Epicenter this year is way way better in my opinion.

Let's be honest. If there was an ounce of responsibility on the part of organizers, the original Woodstock would've been cancelled as well. Issues with safety and security, garbage, and water/sanitation (including an estimated 1 toilet per 800+ people) were dramatic.

There’s a bunch I want to see. I won’t be going though It’s miserably sunny and hot and super expensive for that festival. I get sunburn in like 30 minutes lol. But yeah, Not only are tickets expensive but you have to pay to camp because there’s not enough hotels in the area for all the people that go. They hold it at the old NASCAR track. In previous years it’s been called Carolina rebellion but I believe the organizer of Carolina rebellion partnered with someone for Epicenter.

Yep I went to a couple Carolina Rebellions and if you didn't have VIP, you were stuck in there the whole day AND, if it was sunny, you were screwed because wasn't hardly any shade. I was VIP from the start but now that it has become 3 days, too much for me

Probably was canceled because of the lack of interest due to having very few bands that were actually worth a . Yes I'm old.

I hear you.

For the record, I loathe playing or attending outdoor festivals. I’m not too good in hot weather even at the best of times. And I sunburn in about 20 minutes even with sunscreen. I need to use SPF-50 blocker if I’ll be out in the sun for any length of time. I even burn through what little tan I can manage to get. Lucked out and got the wrong genes as far as UV protection is concerned.

I’m also at that age where I can no longer pretend I’m enjoying myself when I’m not because I’m too hot, dusty and tired. Or sleeping rough and paying through the nose for it. And the traffic in and out is just that much more icing on an already lousy cake.

Hey all you festival promoters? Is there some rule that says you need to pack as many human cattle into a field while doing it as on the cheap as possible? Or as minimally as the local ordinances will allow you to get away with? How about spending some money on a decent venue with good visibility and acoustics, AC, comfortable seating, and a minimal risk of skin cancer?

Woodstock 50 Canceled

At a press conference announcing Woodstock 50 in March, Lang said of the event, “What we’ve assembled here is a combination of some of the great artists from our era and many of the great artists of today and hopefully some of the great artists of tomorrow. Many of these artists are committed to social change, have their own issues that they support, but also support these global issues of climate change and Black Lives Matter.”

What about the music? Was that of no importance or is virtue signalling what gets you on stage now? Everyone has their "issues that they support" but, of course, some issues are far more important than others. I, for one, am glad this thing tanked. In my never to be humble opinion large concerts such as these are a horrible way to hear music and throwing in politics diminishes the true cause... joy!

Bummer in the sense of the meaning and 50 year tribute...but honestly (in my opinion) 80% of the lineup SUCKED!

Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Dead & Company, the Raconteurs, Imagine Dragons, Kacey Musgraves, Run the Jewels, Chance the Rapper, Halsey, John Fogerty, Robert Plant. The last two names, fine...the rest of them are to Woodstock as Justin Bieber is to death metal. I'm glad they cancelled it.

Silly question (since I think the subsequent Woodstocks were even more money grab attempts than the original), but what exactly IS an appropriate band - in 1969 they had folk, rock, Indian, blues and Sha Na Na (not to mention that a good number of the bands were hardly considered headliners).
