Woodstock 50 Canceled

I’m glad they cancelled it the lineup was very depressing and not worthy of being called Woodstock. The lineup for Epicenter this year is way way better in my opinion.

I just read a bunch of articles about Coachella. I see the $495 being the basic admission price, and probably like Coachella it just goes up from there. Tacking on camping, and anything else they can squeeze people for.
$495 will be a basic limited experience, with limited access. Getting kept out of front of stage, and other areas. All the primo stuff will be for the VIP and the VVIP celebrity mega rich folks.
You know, so Paris Hilton, Beyonce can have the best experience in the spirit of the original Woodstock music and art festival.
Peace, Love & Me Me Me, I I I, Me Me Me

It was probably one Blink 182 away from being another Fyre Festival. The mix of performers (including People Magazine-type junk artists) was at first glance, incongruous and it never had a chance of selling what they expected. Also I think that the collective public patience with these kinds of patronizing fiascos is at an all time low.

Now we can look forward to Altamont 50!

Why bother? It’s already been eclipsed.

Dec-1969/Altamont = I death by stabbing.

Oct-2017/Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Music Festival = 58 dead and 422 wounded from gunfire and a total of 851 injured in the ensuing panic when a single gunman opened fire on the crowd.

Modern firearms are much more efficient than simple knives.

That’s a form of ‘progress’ if you like.

In my case there’s maybe three or four acts on the marquee I’d actually be interest in hearing. :cautious:

Although I could have said the same thing for the aborted Woodstock lineup too.

There’s a bunch I want to see. I won’t be going though :( It’s miserably sunny and hot and super expensive for that festival. I get sunburn in like 30 minutes lol. But yeah, Not only are tickets expensive but you have to pay to camp because there’s not enough hotels in the area for all the people that go. They hold it at the old NASCAR track. In previous years it’s been called Carolina rebellion but I believe the organizer of Carolina rebellion partnered with someone for Epicenter.

The organizers forgot about something else ... the mystery is gone. In 1969 people heard about this big festival and it was probably an adventure to travel to the site. They knew it would be a big party with the best bands around but what else was in store? There was mystery.

All of that is gone. People have every detail about everything at their fingertips now. They know exactly what this festival would have been like before going. They would just watch it on Netflix when it comes out 6 months later. And/or they'll watch the YouTube video of the one [hit] song from the artist they wanted to see.

Yes, this is all negative but I think this is where we're headed.
