Some musicians in this thread happy about the cancelation of a festival that hires other musicians, does not compute to this cowboy. 
Definitely no inequality, prejudice, or war today.
The world has completely changed. When I went to concerts in the 70's, even in large public indoor arenas, they just sort of locked you in there and let you do what you want. Within minutes the whole place was a smokey wonder of roach clips being passed around and whatever.
Most of what made Woodstock woodstock is now illegal (and will be enforced). It was a different world, different culture, lost to history.

Capitalism really knows no bounds. I love how they refer to artists as 'brands' 
and one of the first thoughts that pop into their heads is how they can charge a captive audience $10 for a bottle of water. As somebody who was a big part of the historical original event in 1969... shame on you Michael Lang.

It's called Schadenfreude, and in this case, I totally endorse it.
The original concert was a glorious fluke with relevant musicians of the era. This is mostly just current junk culture with a few fake homages to the past - probably as a poke to prompt baby boomers to front a few thousand to their millennial and Gen Z kids or grandkids to attend. Evidently it didn't work.
Unless you've been living with your head in the sand, there IS inequality, prejudice, and war. Only more. The difference is the boomer generation went out en mass and effected change even if the police took a club to them..
Not me. Wish I had been. But, I was at the largest rock concert ever, Newport ‘69... well, it was the largest ever until Woodstock blew it out of the water a month later.
Apparently you've had your head in the sand if you missed the protests of the last several years. Over injustice and equality as well. "En mass"? The whole generation in lockstep. I don't think so. But don't let me stop the narrative.

Was younger were big arena show and the big outdoor theatres in Raleigh and Charlotte they do have shade as long as you didn’t buy lawn tickets. They rarely come around though anymore. Unfortunately most of the big bands I like only play NC for Carolina rebellion/Epicenter these days. Kind of the downside about them having that huge festival so close. before they started doing them all those bands would play individual shows in NC ranging from local clubs to arenas.
I read and listen to news every day. I'm glad the younger generation is taking ownership for their own destiny.

I knew what it meant, I was questioning the use. I don't agree the whole generation was in lockstep when it came to the issues of the day. But anyway, I'll move on before we stray into the TB grey area...
Until they announced they were cancelling it, I didn't know they were doing it. So good marketing job there.
Let's face it, the Woodstock brand doesn't mean anything anymore, and this would have just been a sad money grab using nostalgia for a show during which the only reason someone didn't die was dumb luck.
Peace and love are dead concepts.
Hippies grew up, sold out, and got rich strip mining the futures of their children and grand children.
It would have just been another selfie fest like Coachella.
We are better off without it.

That's the thing, every "woodstock" from the first to the last has been badly organized. To the point of being dangerous for the audience and performers alike.
Unprepared for the crowd, not enough food, inadequate first aid, people looting catering trucks because the only water available was $10 a bottle, raw sewage running down hill into the crowd, dozens of assaults because of inadequate security, etc. It's better that this one fell apart in time to be cancelled, rather than after there were people on site.
