My favourite word for the last few years has been Discombobulate - to confuse. Although Embiggen and Borked (broken) are close runners-up.

My word is Obfuscate - to hide an intended meaning in communication, making communication confusing, wilfully ambiguous, and harder to interpret

When telling the story, he obfuscated the information so as to discombobulate the audience.
