words most often used incorrectly

I hear many people, especially TV news reporters, telling stories and misusing how to quote somebody. (e.g.) They will say, John Doe said quote, "I did not do that." and then they keep going with the report without saying unquote after the statement. The correct way would be to say John Doe said quote, "I did not do that." unquote.

Ahahah ... all words derived from Latin which the English language indirectly absorbed from old French during the Normans' domination over England ... for us Italians words such "literally" or "metaphorically" are not quite common but common yes ... since our language is vastly derived from Latin the words are quite similar in Italian .. we say "letteralmente" and "metaforicamente" and we use them in an appropriate way generally ehm ...
One thing I don't stand is the use of "pretty awesome" ... shouldn't awesome be used alone?
