work, work, work....

So, you took a manufactured home, and supercustomized it, added tons of cool hangout area, a car port, and a little concrete approach up the side.

IDEAL.

It would be so awesome to find a piece of undeveloped property, pour a concrete basement, do all the proper plumbing, then just drop a manufactured home on top of it. No old crappy insulation worries, inefficient ductwork, crap electrical integrity.... but you can pretty much do all of that yourself, just like you did here.

DAAAAMNIT so jealous.

Thanks, it's an ongoing project, but fun.

For this summer we're going to put up the 'upper deck', a 20x12 (approx) platform on the NW side of the house. One of the pics here is the base for the stairs to the top. It will be a custom metal stair, one piece which we'll have fabricated here in town, then transport up there for installation. This is the form we made, but so far haven't poured the concrete.

Holy crap is that alot of tube steel, your buddy an Ironworker by any chance?

My partners' brother in law owns a steel fabricating business, mostly for aftermarket custom addons for construction vehicles and buildings. We got the steel at a good price; he's the one in coveralls. He was our 'technical adviser' on the project and did most of the difficult welding. I know it's a little over the top (OK a lot!) but it will last a very long time and it's virtually maintenance free. It won't twist, sag, or deteriorate in the weather or temp extremes, at least not in my lifetime. I know if there were ever a tornado there (some chance, but not likely) I would take refuge under the deck. It might tear the superstructure of the house away, but the I-beam frame and the deck ain't goin' anywhere.

You're a hot tub and golf course shy of perfection. But you're getting there. :)

I don't think I can swing a Hot Tub with the lake being there and all, but there is a9 hole golf course up there. The tee boxes and greens are maintained, but the fairways are pretty rough. It's been rather dry the past few years, at least out there, so 'pretty rough' means non-existent about now. I'll post pics the next time I'm out there.

The best part for me is on moonless nights, a billion stars....
