Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

:bassist:

Did you buy one? If so, are you happy with it????

I was in the first 10 or so for the crowdfunding campaign, but I'm waiting for mine like everyone else. (April is the projected date.)

Hi Joe,

What's the bass you're playing on the FAIK video?

Cool stuff!!

Thanks. I was fortunate enough several years back to have a guitar company, Minarik Guitars http://www.minarikguitars.com/, custom build and give to me a bass, made to my specs, when I was accompanying their main endorsee at NAMM Link Removed and hung with them a few times.

Sadly, I don't think they make basses anymore. Guitars were always their forte. And I'm pretty sure their endorsee is now a veteranian. :) I'm happy for her. That whole gang of people were some of the nicest people I ever encountered in the music biz.

DDD!

Done Deal, David! :)

Looking forward to this. Just getting an acoustic act together, so the timing couldn't be better.

Hey, just noticed links on the contributer names... except mine? Can I link to my website Link Removed If so, please tell me how. Thanks.

hmmmm... did you set your contribution to anonymous? maybe you can change it by logging into your Indiegogo account.

I'm in. I guess it's too early for a list of the 200 included songs?

Yes, we're creating the content now. Right now we only have around 20... plus 3 drum sets. We should have it all done by the end of March. We'll be releasing more videos showing more content as we go.

Check out this Ska demo: Invalid Link Removed

It really shows you the power of the pause/unpause and accent hit features to get a live drummer sound.

ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT to get in on the $199 price: Invalid Link Removed

After the campaign ends we will be doing pre-orders on our site for a limited time at $249. Then it will be $349 in retail stores.

So, somehow, I think you guys are doing a really good job of capturing the quality of the drumsets even in these simple demos. On the demo where you are showing the software, I was a little underwhelmed on first listen; but on a second listen, I thought it sounded pretty good. And on the ska demo, I think they sound absolutely fantastic. It doesn't sound like Garageband or a keyboard backing rhythm at all.

CAN'T. WAIT. FOR. APRIL.

THANKS!!! :bassist:

We are being pretty obsessive about the sound... that's why it's taking us so long to create the content. We feel that we have one shot to impress people so we're taking the time to do it right.

As long as we're wishing for stuff...
Do you have plans or an approach for 'exotic' percussion ?
Tabla, udu, and doumbek are on my wish list...

We are currently figuring this one out. Exotic percussion is one of the most requested drum sets -- but it is a bit of a challenge to get it right. We're working on making something that sounds really amazing but also is similar enough to a regular drum set that most beats can be played on it.

This is of course only my personal opinion but I think that the guitar player might not be the best choice for showcasing the qualities of the beat buddy. The clips I have seen so far are kind of simplistic and lack subtlety. They make the box sound very similar to a standard drum machine and I know the beat buddy is way more that.
I'd like to hear a really versatile keyboard player or a more accomplished guitarist run through a variety of styles like R&B,Latin, Jazz, World.....to really show what this machine can do.
If that was recorded with high quality software in a more controlled environment it might be a better way to go than a clip that might have come from an I Phone.
The beat buddy seems to be a wonderful tool but the clips I have seen so far don't make me want to pull out my credit card.

Fair enough. We actually have already filmed two more really cool artist demos. One in Samba style and another doing a Sting song. I think you'll like it. We just got delayed in the editing but they will be up soon. Subscribe to our youtube channel to see all the videos: youtube.com/mybeatbuddy

The FAQ says it can use a latching footswitch. What about a momentary switch? Will that work or can you make it a configuration option to select which kind of footswitch? I already have a nice little compact dual momentary footswitch.

Thanks

Not really sure -- honestly we haven't tested it with momentary switches. We designed it to use latching switches because they are much more reliable generally and are much cheaper too.
