Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

Any chance of those who purchased it getting the programming software before the beat buddy arrives? I, fer one, wouldn't mind beginning to program the things I plan to use if for before the pedal arrives.

Also, I remember reading something about a user support group, or a place where people will be able to share their beats and stuff. Is that around yet? Is there going to be a forum where all these kind of questions can be easily answered?
.

+1

So you could programme a pickup fill if you have a set sequence. I think it would be great to have a few simple snare pickups ready made.

Even better if unpause had an option to throw in a pickup at each one, much better for jamming.

That's a pretty good idea... we'll look into adding that feature.

This has probably been asked already, but I haven't yet had the chance to go through the entire thread. Can other midi instruments, or non drum wave files be added to to the beat buddy, or just drums? If so, I'm imagining that can open up a whole nuther set of possibilities.

You can use any WAV file to create your own custom drum sets in the drum set creator software. We're finishing up this software now and will be posting a video of how this is done.

Got up to around page 7 in this thread... but have to admit it's a bit of a chore.

We are refining the software now and creating more content. We expect to release it to you guys to play with around mid-march. The user forum where you can share content should be up by then as well.

If you guys haven't seen our sappy Thank You video yet... it was made especially for you die-hard BeatBuddy fans :-)

Check it out: Invalid Link Removed

You guys are AWESOME! Thank you!!!!

It seems like you are still pretty open to adding features at a fairly late date. I take this to mean the firmware is going to be pretty flexible/update-able?

What sort of supplemental switch will I need for my BeatBuddy? I believe it's a dual foot switch but do I need latching/non/momentary...? Apologies if this has been covered already. I'm not set up for MIDI if that matters.

Latching

What would be sweet is a demo vid for some of us technologically impaired on making our own midi files and getting them into the program. As a longtime drummer converted to bass, I'm planning on making most of my own beats if i can figure it out.

Yes, the firmware is completely update-able. You can update the firmware though the interface software as long as you have an internet connection. We will continue to refine the firmware and add new features that will improve the BeatBuddy.

We did a demo video of how to get midi files into the program: http://youtu.be/YwklAiYmeoY

As far as programming your own beats, there is a lot of software out there for that (garage band, cubase, reason, logic, etc.) so we don't think we should be re-inventing the wheel and making another version.

Doesn't sound right... A momentary switch is surely the best option for a tap tempo or drum accent hit. Softer to press, easier to use in the circuit for the job they are required (as a foot press is always on, rather than alternating between on and off), less moving parts inside so I would imagine they would be more reliable and cheaper than latching switches.

Sure you've not mixed up latching and momentary?

:hiding:

We're going to investigate into making momentary compatible as well as latching. What would you say are a few high quality, yet inexpensive momentary dual footswitches?

Ohh boy... just got meeself a latching footswitch on amazon cuz I had a giftcard. Should I return it and wait until this thing is finished? I have no other use for it than for this pedal.
