Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

Adam's team says, "Don't you DARE take away MY Beat Buddy thread!"

Peepoles seem to be gettin waaay to serious about this sheeit, yo. In 2 weeks the jibber jabber will be over. If its bugging anyone, don't read anything for 2 weeks. How's that for an idea? It's easy to unsubscribe to a thread. If there are any important BB updates they'll come in yer email. And if you haven't yet bought one, then the jibber jabber is something you probably should be reading. Al just my opinion, of course.

You guys, I don't want this to be a bigger argument than it already is, but it's good forum etiquette, good general etiquette, and just plain common sense that if you don't like a thread's existence/continued posts/whatever, that you unsubscribe instead of continually complaining about it. If you need/want updates on the Beat Buddy, they have a website and a mailing list. Asking the thread to be locked just because it bothers you is beyond ridiculous. I think you have crossed the line into trolling, and I will start reporting you to the mods if you keep this up. More on principle than out of a love for the thread, although I do want the thread to continue because if people discuss drum software, I'm interested in that.

This thread doesn't need your permission to exist. Period.

... Feel free to private message me. I think we might bore others with some of the beginner info and it would also sidetrack the thread...
Wrong. There's plenty of luddites that could use the schooling on beat generation and getting this MIDI-to-BB to work properly. What's more, we've got a couple of weeks to fill this thread with that because it's not off-topic, but rather quite related to pending BB usage. I welcome your input on this front.

Bring on the beginner info!

Some people are interested in the updates even though the BBs aren't here yet. There have been worthwhile topics being discussed...
And if you don't know how to unsubscribe, I refer you to my link above!

Yup. Compared to some other threads, this one is staying remarkably on topic. Makes me wonder how the whiners handle the rest of TB.

Phil? Yoohooo... Phil. Paging Phil, your thread awaits another empty-Philler post from you...

@ Downunderwonder: Here's a list of hardware interfaces, and a random selection from that list...

- Sonuus i2M Musicport Hi-Z USB Audio Interface; MIDI Converter and Hi-Z USB audiointerface optimised for Guitar, 4-String Bass, 5-String Bass and Voice/Wind.

- Motu MIDI Express USB - single-unit rackmount

- M Audio's Uno is a simple 1-In/1-Out USB Bus-Powered MIDI interface

Some more from Sweetwater...

- MIDIWorks MIDIJet Pro USB wireless

- iRig MIDI2

So there's a plethora of choices to be had, from a simple interface sans cables, to simple cables-included unit and rack-mountable or desktop solutions. Heck, there's even the wireless one noted above.

Prices range from 35-bucks to $500.

I don't know what software is needed/included with any of this stuff, but I'd bet the simpler $35-$100 hardware options would be all I need.

Just got this message of another shipping delay (understandable) but not a word about the software/website completion:

We know you are anxiously waiting to receive your BeatBuddy tracking number. We have some disappointing news: The shipment has been delayed by a week. We know you don’t want to hear excuses, but we feel that keeping you fully informed of what is going on is our responsibility.

In China, it is currently the mid-Autumn festival -- the Chinese harvest festival. There is always a surge of shipping traffic before and after the festival. Our logistics company assured us that they would beat the shipping rush and get everything out this past week.

We were under the impression that the logistics company shipped as scheduled and, whenever asked about delivery times, relayed information in accordance with the estimations given. Unfortunately, they just informed us that they were not able to keep their promise and that they will have to ship out in a week from now.

International orders will get their tracking numbers next weekend and USA orders early in the following week by Sept 16.

We know how badly this makes us look. We’ve given you guys multiple delays and that is extremely frustrating and annoying. We take full responsibility for this and we would like to make it up to you. So to thank you for your very generous patience, we’re going to create a brand new drum set exclusively for you guys. But we want it to be something you guys want -- so we’re putting it up for a vote!

Keep rockin’,
The BeatBuddy Team

I voted for the Phil Collins set.

Something similar happened to Digitech's Bass Whammys by the way. It was January/February so I think Chinese New Year was an issue.

Pots and pans would be my second choice. I won't be upset if that's what happens.

IMO this is one of the best threads on talkbass.

OK there are a few contributions that have been less valuable than others but in the absence of an official BB forum this thread is covering every topic of the BB I'm interested in..
- I originally found out about the BB here
- I've learnt loads about midi sync, loopers and how devices can interact with each other
- and the most recent topic on drum pattern sequencing has been on great personal interest.

There's a similar thread on thegearpage but way less informative, even David's himself is less active there. I believe that's because the talkbass community have, for the most part, really got behind him and the BB!

everything discussed has been totally relevant to the device and how people will practically use it. For me the activity and community interest pushed me to pre-order a device and I've seen posts from others to suggest the same thing! I'm really looking forward to hearing from those who will receive theirs in the first shipment soon.

Thanks for the offer. I've found a bunch of what look to be useful books and they're waiting to be unleashed from my Amazon Wish List, which won't happen before November since I'm saving my nickels and dimes to make the property tax payment in October... But I'll get there. I've been looking for a software development project so maybe if I can't find anything intuitively useful for this purpose, I'll just go make one...

Meanwhile, it appears that FL Studio can indeed (and fairly easily) export sequencer tracks to .MID files, so I"ll go learn and play there for a while. More learning curve - once upon a time I knew how to make up a sequence pattern, and now evidently I've forgotten so I have to re-learn...
