^ Well I wouldn't use that term because (a) I don't use it in general and (b) it's not super accurate in this case. I didn't need or expect the very first tracking number. International people were supposed to get theirs first, and I accepted that. And certainly, if a whole batch went out from Florida and I'm in the middle of the country, I didn't expect to receive my first.
However, there is additional context to my reaction. I did expect to get a tracking number in the first batch of US tracking numbers, for the following reasons:
(1) When it was still allegedly a possibility that we would get these in July, and I was moving at the end of July, I dealt with the Beat Buddy team about what to do. They were really cool about it and told me that since I was in the first batch of Indiegogo supporters (literally the first, I was told), that they would do their best to get me an early unit so I could get one before my move. (Of course, two months and many delays later this seems a little silly.) So while that may have been just a specific solution to my specific problem, it indicated to me that they would indeed go first come, first served (or close to it) on the shipping.
(2) If you go back to the Indiegogo campaign, the different pricing tiers were indicated with words like "Early" and "Earliest." Now, whether that refers to how early one put in their order or when they will receive it is a little ambiguous, but to me it was still another indication of FIFO (that one's for all you computer nerds!).
Obviously, a lot has changed. Specific to my situation, my move is no longer an issue. And from the Beat Buddy side of things there have been more delays that squished all the various order times together into this one big production run. And it can't be said enough, this is obviously a huge undertaking for David and the Beat Buddy team; delays were inevitable and I do feel bad about complaining about them, especially now that the light is really, really at the end of the tunnel. But those are the reasons I was disappointed/slightly concerned that I didn't get my tracking number on Tuesday the 16th (per the early September announcement) or within the three day window we were given earlier this week. (And I'm still waiting, BTW. I saw it's USPS so I presume today is still a possibility unlike if it were UPS; I hope I'm not waiting until Monday.)
I should add, of course, that I recognize that in two months when we're all jamming away (and using the software, hopefully including Mac!), this will all be a distant memory.
As for the next thread, I don't care who starts it. If you get yours, jam and/or post away! Can I call #1 for the inevitable club, though?

(J/K...mostly.)
