Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

Apples and oranges.

The BB is truly unique in the fact that it lets you go between different sections in a song and add fills. All this can be done in real time; no preprogramming.

It probably does seem similar until you try it.

This is totally true. I don't know if calling it the "World's First Drum Machine in Pedal Form" is entirely accurate, but it is a 100% unique product.

I'd say those other pedals are not really a drum machines, in the same sense that the big clunky hardware ones (which have similar functionality to the beat buddy, but in a giant box) are. I see beat buddy as not compromising those features for the sake of pedal form factor. Thus, first "true" drum machine!

"If you live outside of the US, we'll be shipping to you from our warehouse in Hong Kong. So first your BeatBuddy will travel from the factory to Hong Kong (3-4 days), where it must pass Hong Kong customs (2-4 days; their customs process tends to be slower). Once it passes customs, it will be sorted by the warehouse (this may take up to 3 days) and shipped to you..."

Okay, so I got notification October 28. It's Remembrance Day, a fortnight later. Add up the days in the quote and that's 11 days... Any day now... I'll go check the mailbox...

Nope.

I swear to Godot, it'd be faster for me to pick it up from the HK distribution hub.

Hmmm ^^^ Check the commercial-users policy David, if you haven't already. Would hate to lose your commentary in the BB threads.

Speaking of Beat Buddy... Mine arrived, announced in the other thread, and yet...

ARrGhgghhH!

Still haven't had time to stomp all over my BB since I got it! It's sitting next to the bed, teasing me each night as I fall asleep and laughing at my ludicrous schedule in the morning when I get up. Luckily the project is done with and I expect a lot of quality time with it this next week.

HAA!

for the kickstarter campaign one of the perks will be a t-shirt that says:

My BeatBuddy:

1. Never turns up late to gigs.
2. Never changes the beat 'cause he feels like it'
3. Never steals your drink.
4. Never gets drunk and hits on your girl.
5. Never pukes on your favorite guitar.
6. Never gets into fights with the bouncer and expects you to back him up.
7. Never insists on playing one of ‘his songs’.

c'mon guys -- come up with more! :)

8. Doesn't insist your bass rig is pointed directly at HIM ONLY instead of ALL the PUNTERS!!

I haven't played my bass without it since it arrived and mine still beckons me! Its a very, VERY good device and was worth the wait! Its exactly what I was hoping for. :-)

This is actually one of the reasons I didn't get in on the crowd fund campaign. The first thing I did was Google his name.

Huh. Kudos to you for your due diligence. If I had turned that up, I would have had my doubts too.

I don't regret participating, though, and I'm very happy with my Beatbuddy.

As I said in another thread, he had primarily referred to himself as an "entrepreneur" when discussing his career/qualifications. And that's sort of hilarious in retrospect. (Although I think he's said he had "multiple businesses"?) I'm not sure what this knowledge would have done for me prior to joining in on the crowdfunding. But, I'm more than happy with my Beat Buddy, and wouldn't change a thing...

Jonathan Goldsmith, eat your heart out...

I was also a bit on the fence about whether the BB would do everything I wanted, but seeing that I'd be potentially sending money to someone with a history of large-scale deception (not to mention getting in over their heads) was the deciding factor.

Kudos to David for turning over a new leaf and truly doing something great with his talents!

I think if I had Googled it, I'm not sure I would have believed it, and/or I would have assumed it was referring to someone else. I take it that it did not end all that well? I think I'll read the book at some point. That would be great airplane fodder: "This is about international gun runners, one of whom is a casual internet acquaintance of mine."

I saw the pictures of him, and he was described as a Florida pothead/musician, so it was pretty obvious through a little investigation.
It is definitely an interesting story- I originally found and read the Rolling Stone story on them, which was a very well-written and fairly quick read. Long story short- they were found to be selling the military ammunition from the Cold War era that often would be faulty due to years of storage, including Chinese ammunition which was repackaged to look otherwise (as the US military wasn't supposed to be using Chinese arms). That is really just the tip of the iceberg though- I really recommend you check out the story as it was a bit hard to swallow (it doesn't paint the US military admin in a very good light either!).

Can't believe this thread has been dead for over 6 months. Has anyone downloaded any premium content? I'm thinking of taking advantage of a sale they have that ends today to pick up the Phil Collins kit, some 3/4 beats (wish there were more 6/8), and the "Beat Elements" package.
