World's most beautiful basses

What sort of bass is this? It's beautiful.

It's a Brubaker. Had it for about six months now.

I don't play a beat up old fender because I can't afford a Nordstrand it's because I'd feel like a dork playing a coffee table in a live situation and I have no desire for wall hangers that don't get used.

Last week the leader of a busy band I work with walked past me as we were about to break and said "That bass sounds great. All of your basses sound great". I don't play them like I'm afraid of getting a ding, I play them like I would any instrument I own. I have no doubt that affects some folks' playing. I also have no doubt that a large number of bassists don't truly know what they're doing... and it's much easier to blame a bass for a shortcoming. I know people who've been playing 20 years who are clueless when it comes to setting controls and EQ. Clueless when it comes to technique. Clueless about how everything works together.

LOL, that would describe me in 1994. I'd buy active basses and dime the controls. Fortunately, Dave LaRue set me straight, and now I know exactly how to get a great sound every single time through any equipment. But you're right...it's a lot like drummers who can't tune drums. You get this mentality of "sounds great in my bedroom," and you can't adjust for a band, and next thing you know, your ultra-bedroom tone is getting eaten alive by the guitarist.

GobBass, is that one of the Korean-made ones? I've never seen one that finish before (yellow/satin).

FWIW, I have a red cherry (gloss) one just like that, but a 5er with rosewood fingerboard. Love it!

That was mine. I let it go to get the six that's in this thread. Nice bass, amazing finish, don't miss it at all since I got the last one

Plus I had recently received this one just before I got the redburst (got the red one in a trade)...

The two sixes are my main basses.

ICK! I know some guys on here have them and love them. The premise in interesting, at the very least, but these things look awful to me. I don't know if its the lack of pickups or the lines in general, but I just hate all of it. Not meant to be a bash on those who like them, just my personal opinion.

Hey, I'm getting one of those!!!... Except I do think it's pretty ugly. I'm repainting the pickguard either white or dark red... That should make it look a lot better.

Hi Mark, I heard you had gotten rid of the Fodera to fund a new kitchen!

You might be surprised, as many have been, to hear that I traded my Kubicki Ex-Factor for a Status Stealth bass! Funny to think that I lusted after one for so long, but was able to find it in my heart to let it go. Newcastle has one less Kubicki player now! Do you have any photos of the Status Empathy?

Yeah, after I posted that I kinda put 2 and 2 together and realised it was probably a Brubaker, although I couldn't find any pics of it on the site. In all honesty, it's a nicer looking bass than anything else they've got on their website, and that's saying something, as there's some great basses on there.

Absolutely sweet looking instrument.
