What can I say... I like the over-the-top, whether that Gretsch White Falcon, a gold-leaf-covered Ritter, the pointiest Neil Moser creation or an absurd multi-neck. I never wanted to be tasteful, restrained and classy!


You're damn right that's not tasteful nor classy.:)
 
Oddly enough, for everyone who really loves my fretli, there's someone who is irate over 'em. I can smell a lot of jealousy, though. There's a problem when people get pissed before I play a single note.

The sound of a fretless bass as distinct from a fretted bass can be as subtle or as overt as the individual player choses, IMO.

I love it when someone does NOT notice when I'm playing a fretless. Odd, but true. I'm not embarassed about the instrument, but rather focus on letting the playing and performance speak for itself.
