No. It's a mineral stain.
I had a custom bass built a number of years ago and the luthier wanted to scrap the whole neck blank and start over because of a few mineral stains. I said absolutely not as the stains were purely cosmetic and unique to my instrument. He kindly continued, but I just can't understand how someone would rather throw out or reject a cosmetically imperfect, but functionally perfect, piece of wood. Makes no sense to me.
