Very nice pedalboard! I would put the chorus after the compressor, but that's just me.

Thanks. I vacillate on compressor location. Lately - end of chain. This worked very well last evening, and I'll be there again Thursday night.

I go back and forth. I got another coupon from Prymaxe, and you know how that goes. I'm trying to find something that I don't really need to spend it on so I can justify spending the money. I debated getting a new compressor because I don't LOVE the Pigtronix. But I ultimately decided to just keep the money, and I decided that I like the Piggy enough. What it does is subtle, but I feel it makes an important difference to me in evening out playing across and up the fingerboard, limiting peaks, and adding sustain. Of course, if you're playing in an environment where you have the resources and a competent sound engineer to add compression to the bass properly, you wouldn't need to necessarily add it at the pedalboard. But most churches that I have played in don't. And I like to be more in control of my sound so that I know I'm sending the absolute best possible signal I can to the FOH so there is less of a chance of an inexperienced, volunteer sound man who likely knows little to nothing about actual sound engineering messing up my tone. Granted, as has been discussed elsewhere, the average congregant is not likely to notice the difference between a compressed and uncompressed bass. It's all for me (and Jesus).I quit vacillating and removed it from mine.

Mine! What side of the island will you be on? My church is in Kapalua by the Ritz Carlton. We also go all out on Thanksgiving and host a free dinner, all home-cooked. Last year we did about 75 turkeys. Our worship team is above average, especially for our small island, but not on your level! come "talk bass"
I got my OCS in the mail. Question, I've only used the headphones so far, and there was a LOT of static and the level of the signal was fairly low, even at max (Not what I was expecting based on the manual). Is this normal?

I also love trains and Conrail's company train, which they used to shuffle officers around and even host meetings on, was a bunch of old passenger cars, updated and kept very clean. It was called the Office Car Special. It's symbol was OCS. Brings back fond memories of growing up in PA.

I'm impressed with it. The signal routing alone is killer. Being able to set crossover points and blend clean/effected sounds helps a lot. You can keep your lows and have a distortion or only phase above 400 hz. I'm using the effects loops with 2 OD pedals I like for guitar and I can bring those in and out of the signal chain or set them in different order on another patch. I haven't tried the IR stuff yet because I run a VTDI post effects to the soundboard
Interesting you mention this...mine is a very weak signal, too. I've been really busy with work to spend much time with it though. Curious, do you have a Deluxe version, and if so, does it say "mono" by the headphone jack, or says nothing there? If it's not labeled mono, it's the newer (most up to date) stereo version...at least that's how I understand it.
I couldn't get any usable signal when plugging the middle (affected) 1/4" output jack into the front of either my B|Amp or Vanderkley Spartan amp heads...both very high quality heads. I know it's more common to use the unaffected 1/4" thru to the amp head, but it should work either way...and some pedal owners (on the DSM thread) have mentioned using the affected 1/4" into their amp heads, without any problem.

I don't own one (regretfully) so I'm not speaking from experience. But perhaps it needs a hotter signal into the OCSD. Isn't it just a cab sim? It seems like you'd need a preamp to drive it to an adequate level.
Had thought of that (I have a p-l-e-n-t-y hot signal bypassing it though)... Also, @ExaltBass uses his (pic above somewhere) without anything other than an active circuit bass preamp (+ his passive '59 P)...same setup for me.
@SteveC I'm sure you will want in on this.
OK, quick test this evening just to check this out myself. First, I turned the headphone volume pot on full. Then, I plugged in my trusty Sennheiser HD600 (300 Ohm, 102 db sens) headphones - plenty of level to practice with, and it sounded excellent. I was able to increase the level further with the Gain pot. Over 1:00 started to get a bit noisey. Still very acceptable. Then, my Alclair Tours (22 OHm, 110 db sens). Almost zero volume! I won't ever use it for this purpose, as I have a Phil Jones BigHead for that, but I am darned curious. Perhaps it needs switchable output impedance? Perhaps @Dsmnoisemaker can enlighten this discussion. And, if you do... Welcome to this thread... lots of P&W Bassist love for your little box here.
