I was surprised by how small it is. I expected it to be larger, what with all it can do. Not that that's a bad thing. On crowded pedalboards, smaller is always better.

Im considering an OCSD as well. The first few times Ive listened to demos it didn't seem all that great, but after hearing the glowing feedback on here from live amp-less scenarios...well I willing to give it a go (and the demos have grown on me a little). The question I have is if there is a difference In some of the early runs vs the current ones? The reason Im asking is Reverb has a few listings with State-side shops offering it at 259 and free shipping vs 269 and 26 in shipping from Noisemaker himself in Chile.

Should be fairly different considering the Q-strip doesn't have the speaker simulation circuit, and has adjustable mids. Seems like it's more of a refined clean EQ/DI than an amp simulation or flavoring pedal. Often it's the baked in sansamp sound (which scoops the mids pretty hard form what I understand) people dislike about the BDDI. So if you like the build quality and DI, don't want "that" tone, and like parametric EQ, the QStrip seems head and shoulders over the BDDI. Personally I'm a VTBDI fan right now, but I haven't gotten to test out this fabled OmniCabSim yet.

It's my understanding that there's 3 versions thru 2017, and nothing has changed with the latest 2018 batch from Chile. You can determine which version from a pic (assuming they post an actual pic of the pedal for sale)...

Really wish manufacturers didn't go witches, devils, and demons on everything. It's not so much to ask for something without overt symbols. However, I do really want a tumnus pedal cause I lack in the klon dept.

Edit: Oh this site is frustrating on a phone sometimes...

Went home and dialed in a sound that worked for me over my in-ears. I was playing at church a few days later, and our soundtech was floored, as was I. I love that I can use it as an occasional flavor, or as an always-on pedal. I now have two OCSDs, and with the Noble I will have 3 distinct sounds at my disposal.

Through an amp with my secular rock group, it has been handy to kick in when needed for a special sound (All Right Now, the Who's version of Summertime Blues with added B3K, etc).

It has become an essential tool.

My headphone jack in my practice amp failed and I was looking for options. Of course GAS for OCSD is pretty intense, so. . . following @ExaltBass little breadcrumbs in this post . . . I too am now the proud ownder of the OCSD. This wonderful local shop had the sense to order 20 on their last shipment.

Initial review. Short answer: It was worth it. Long answer: At first tweaked a few knobs and could hear it has a broad range of options but have to say, I was a little concerned as it didn't appear to change the very existance of bass tones or have angelic voices streaming from it and immediately transport me to playing in the seventh heaven. So once my expectations were back to reality, I did some switching back and forth, on and off, with the OCSD and was liking what I was hearing. It really does clean up the sound and enhances the right things. Tried it with the Mesa DI in the path and not in the path. I like it better going into the Mesa pre-amp first. The 4x10 and 8x10 suggested settings are a great place to start. It's a keeper. Gives me headphone practice amp, with an aux in and sounds like it will do what it is supppose to do live. More on that story next week. I don't play this week so won't be able to try it out until next Sunday live.

I also had my favorite day playing bass in a loooooong time for a bunch of reasons, only some of which I am willing to openly state. But the sound guy was willing to give me whatever I wanted in my monitor, we had a nice set, and I played with a live drummer for the first time in a while...

I play along to a 20 minute YouTube drum track a ton, I practice with other friends occasionally but it's not what I'm looking for. For this reason, I'm trying to get a musicians study group started at my church, to focus on discussion of old hymnals, playing together in an open format, with homework around thematically rewriting an old hymn. I've got a small nod, just need some more. We're the world's smallest mega church (fbcw.org), we've got many stages to do it on. I love practicing on my own, but I want a jam session for Jesus that's fun and open to see where the Spirit leads us. Any instrument, just jump in any time.

This is an amazing idea!!! I wish we were big enough, had enough musically able, or willing to learn folks to be able to pull it off..
Let us know if it comes to fruition..
