I was using a digitech bass synth wah, with a idiot box blower box. Figured id see if I could knock it out in one pedal

Hey guys I need some help!

So I'm playing a Fender American deluxe Jazz V > Polytune3 > Darkglass Super Symmetry > Darkglass Vintage Microtubes Deluxe > Ampeg V4B > xlr out to FOH.

So I heard the playback this work from our service and my sound sounds nothing like a bass guitar. A lot of just low frequencies that sound like mud.

What can I do different? Am I too compressed?

I'm going to experiment just going from bass to tuner to amp to FOH.

Do they have a high pass filter turned on at the sound board? Or is it a low pass filter? I always get the two confused. Whichever one it is that cuts the high frequencies out and only lets the low ones through.

First off, what are your settings like on the bass and the amp? My warning to you is this: No matter how brilliant the advice you are given here is, it won't overcome a bad FOH guy. The best end result may come from a good conversation with FOH about what you BOTH are trying to accomplish tonally.

Hey Ricky. So, not to beat a dead side-tracking horse, but I decided to go with the MS-60B because I found a great deal on one and they added several new effects with v2.0. But I have a question about the power supply issue. I looked up your trutone CS6, and it has 500ma outputs. But my MXR IsoBrick's outputs only go up to 450ma on one or two of them. Do you (or anyone who runs one of these with a power supply) have any idea if I'll fry it or the power supply if I try to run it with less than 500ma?

Nope; you're safe! The 60b actually uses under 200mA (Invalid Link Removed).

so i think ive decided to split my octave fuzz search into two separate pedals haha.

Im looking for an octave pedal that does an octave up and down. Out of the analog octaves it looks like the foxrox octron is the only one i find that does both. As far as digital octaves I'm looking into the sub n up mini, micro pog, nano pog, and pitchfork.

Does anyone have experience with any of these pedals?

I picked up this just released "Swiss Army knife" preamp from @PraiseBassing...many thanks to him!

This is replacing my OCSD and Broughton Low+High Pass Filter pedal. Quiet pedal/low noise floor! Messenger has a transformer DI, too. :thumbsup:

Soon, I'll be adding a simple tube pre pedal just in front of it. Board pics when I'm finished...one pedal away! Well, is any true TB'er ever "one pedal away?" ;)

I've only played with a POG2 in the store and I didn't care for it. More of a guitar player's pedal IMO. The other's I'm not experienced with. I'm not a fan of a true octave up on bass especially if you're trying to find that synth-like vibe. The COG line of octave pedals is something to check out. The T-65 that I have has an Up feature, but it's not an actual octave up. It gives it that synth fuzzy tone to it, but it's not a fuzz. It's definitely a pedal that will wake the congregation because they will for sure know when it's on. With the included effects loop you can blend whatever you'd like with it and engage it at the same time.

wow. That looks like a good pedal to have. If you could only run one pedal, that wouldn't be a bad choice... How much do those go for?

I have the regular sub 'n up and like it quite a bit. I have barely begun to scratch the surface of what you can do with the app as far as customizing the toneprint(s). But it works well. And you can add a little drive to the octave signals, which I love.
