A good DI will go a long way. While a Jule Monique is my go to and quite expensive I often use a Acme Motown DI or a countryman type 85.

A good DI will go a long way. While a Jule Monique is my go to and quite expensive I often use a Acme Motown DI or a countryman type 85.
A lot of it depends on how the signal is eq'd at the board. If the signal being sent to your iem is not cutting it, you have to know what it is missing that you want to hear.
The questions I would ask are:
Does playing through an amp and cab give you a sound you like more?
What is it that you are hearing that you don't like? Or what are you not hearing that you wish you were?
My OCSD is nice. But I vastly prefer the Cab emulation that comes from my Darkglass AO Ultra. So I don't think it's an open and shut conversation. There are others who are playing the in cab sim game.
I got a new board in from Creation Music Company yesterday and put this together. Going to rock it for a bit and see how I like this setup. I wanted a board big enough for a full sized volume pedal, this gives me that, plus space for a few other things. The board was nice to build on, I think I would have appreciated a few more routing holes. But other then that its good, well built with a nice junction box.
JoshC- very nice board. What it the routing for your Alpha/Omega, H9 and OCSD? I have been pondering how to set up mine board with an OSCD and B7K
The routing goes: H9->OCSD->AO Ultra. I generally prefer the DI out on the AO since that's where their cab sim is, and I prefer the AO Cab sim to the OCSD. With the AO I generally don't use the OCSD. I also have a B7K Ultra and VM Ultra. If I decide I want to use one of those that week I use the OCSD. Generally I've found I prefer the OCSD before the Preamps, I find the EQ options on the preamps easier to tweak to get the sound where I like it, so having them last is helpful.

No worries, it gives me an excuse to extol the virtues of the Lehle for a bit.
The Lehle is my current "end game" volume. I've generally been an EB VP Jr user. But those definitely develop issues from wear and tear. Scratchy pots, broken strings, I've had both.
I got this one sale for ~$230 which isn't cheap, but it's not too insane. There are basically no moving parts, so nothing to break, it uses magnets and sensors and is supposed to last forever. It has a nice sweep, which as been the hardest thing for me to find in a non-EB volume pedal. I have a Boss FV30L and the Mini Dunlop also which are good for their size, but I don't enjoy the sweep of either. The Boss has a super definite "engage" point where it goes from no volume to too much and the Dunlop, while better, isn't ideal either.
The Lehle also has a really nice buffer built in with gain, so it's perfect right there at the start of the signal chain.
My only complaint about it is the metal housing around the output and power jacks gets in the way of normal right angle plugs which seems like a pretty massive design oversight from them. So you either kind of have to route them over that which could leave them prone to pinching if there is too much slack, or use straight connectors.
I run through a Mesa Subway Preamp/DI with it set to post eq. No cab sims in my chain, but I am about to add a parametric EQ before the Mesa to work on tweaking and fattening up my tone for more resonance and having an adjustable Q is very useful for that. I use Modulus basses and they run hot in the high mids and treble and I can only dial them back so much before I start losing a little too much.
The Mesa preamp does a really good job on its own though when I compare it to my Mesa D800 running through a 2x12 Mesa cab.
The POG 2 is an absolute beast. You can dial up to four octaves but I usually use three in a judicious manner. It great for builds. I utilize it in, "What a Beautiful Name" and "Do It Again." It has a HPF plus an attack slider. It gives the player so much control. If you have the $$$ then go for it. The POG2 is the bomb diggity!
If used correctly you will enrich and augment the Worship atmosphere.

I have a set by Eartech, out of Memphis.. from my understanding, a guy that worked for JHA started the company
Although I rarely, very rarely get to play for service, I'm gonna post this.. just because I was so surprised at how good the Wampler Paisley Drive sounds on bass... I was starting to think that I wasn't a dirt guy. But I like enough to keep it for a bit
