Hyper Luminal in BUS mode, a slight treble and bass boost on the Linden and the Olympic MKIII running pretty much flat. Kicked the PPB on for the occasional bridge for a bit more oomph! Sent to FOH from the Olympic (with cab sim) and it also ran a GK MBP112 powered cab as my fold back. Very, very happy with the sound I had!

Nice little board. Wouldn't feel quite right having that boost pedal on my board at church though! ;) For much the same reason I don't buy clothes from French Connection there in England... :laugh:

PS What's the Olympic Like? I love my Tech 21 VT Bass DI but the specs and write-ups of the Olympic do look/sound cool.

I love the finish on the PPB, so sparkly!!! The name, not so much! No one ever looks at my board though and it's a great sounding (and looking) pedal so it stays! I certainly understand how you feel though!

Love the Olympic, sounds great, cab sims are fantastic and has the best headphone and aux setup on a pedal that I've used! It's a really well thought out pedal! Highly recommend! I did have a VT Bass DI many years ago, but too much time has passed for me to offer a reasonable comparison between the two. I would say the cab sim is a step up from the VT Bass DI.

The Olympic looks interesting, sadly the 12V power requirement ticks me off. What is it with these companies that they have to be "special?" Most power supplies offer 9v or 18V, these companies that do 12v and 15v really narrow their markets. I would like to hear more about it. Though can you load a more modern cab profile like a 410 or 212 with tweater in it? How is the noise level?

I believe the 12V requirement is due to how the 12AX7 tube needs to be powered (though I may be wrong, I have seen several tube pedals that require either 12V or 24V to operate). Actually, just did a quick google and the max power for the heater filaments in a 12AX7 is 12V so if you want to get the most out of the tube I guess 12V is what you need. Again, not an electrical engineer, just a guy checking google! ;)

Shift Line - Olympic MkIII Tube Bass Preamp

This thread holds most of the info and user experiences about the Olympic. Many of us have the MKIII that doesn't have the loadable cab sims but general opinion is that the two loaded sims are of very good quality. You can load any two IR profiles you like into the new MKIIIS. The whole unit has a very low noise floor two. Great preamp and I really enjoy using mine for a variety of reasons. CIOKS power supplies are a good choice for running these pedals too. Hope this helps!

I have experienced that as well (at least when monitoring through headphones. You have to increase the signal going into it. Otherwise, if I turn the gain (on the original sized one) up must past 1:00, it gets hissy.

My deluxe has a noisy DI. Daniel said it was probably either the op-amp or capacitors that need to be replaced, but I haven't had time to investigate. The mini needs the volume up at or past one to get the output to unity, but it is just too noisy for me with the volume up that high.

Same concerns for me, but admittedly...my "hiss tolerance" threshold is ocd low.

I went the Messenger route...haven't desired to change anything on my ampless/DI board for quite awhile. Ultra-quiet noise floor, gobs of headroom, and plenty of control options to shape a cab sim'd, high-output clean signal to any board...
