Sharing my board....
Are you happy with the BDI21? I’ve considered picking one up just to play around with it. It’s hard to go wrong for $30.
Thought I'd drop this here, too...

FWIW, I tried a Behringer Sansamp a few years ago. I was pretty impressed with the sound for the price. Very similar to the original Sansamp Bass Driver. If you're on a budget and want that sound, it's hard to go wrong. But it felt a little too flimsy and plastickey to me. I didn't think it would handle life on the road well.
I am thinking of downsizing my board from Darkglass VMTD and Super Symmetry, Eventide H9, Red Witch Factotum, 3Leaf Wonderlove, Omnicabsim and Turbo-tuner to Turbo-tuner, Super Symmetry, Line 6 HX Stomp and Omnicabsim. I think my current board is just too much and I have had a difficult time getting the sounds I want with the knobs getting bumped. I an interested in the HX stomp because I can program and forget.
Am I going down the wrong rabbit hole?

I'm on the same path. I have a Line 6 HX Effects incoming. I envision GLXD > HX effects > OCSD to my Bergantino B|Amp (add the Noble after the OCSD when a DI is required)

I'm actually in the process of downsizing my board tremendously too. I'm sick of lugging the whole thing to church just to use 2-3 of the pedals. I'll post an update once I'm done. But in my old age I'm leaning towards the school of "less is more," especially since for the most part nobody except bassists and maybe some other musicians notices or cares what we do with effects. To the average person a bass is a bass. But I'm not going cold turkey. I'm going to have a micro board but still maintain the big board for those moments/occasions where more is needed or desired.

The HX Effects is more like a Helix - less cab sims.
Current board is way overkill!
And this was a downsize!

Meh. I've used digital processors over the years, but I always come back to analog. Even though it takes up way more space, I need knobs I can actually turn on the fly to make changes, not menus I have to scroll through. But to each his/her own. There is no replacement for the OCSD in my mind. Maybe something like the Two Notes Torpedo Cab, which I've never tried and costs twice as much. I'm plenty happy with the OCSD. Anything you put in front of it will sound better.:

Other than when I had my Noble, the best, easiest best sounding board I ever had, was a Korg Pitchblack, CALI76CB, and a OCSD
I’ve wanted and tried to like digital modelers, but it has never clicked for me. I always felt Line 6 quit on bass players after the Bass Pod. They had a good idea with the modeling bass (can’t remeber what it was called) but I think if they would have made it available for other basses (the one they had was pretty ugly) as an “after market” preamp and pups kind of thing, it may have had a better chance. Fortunately, I don’t really use effects. The “life/presence” my OCSD brings to my IEM/FOH sound is all I really need. Since ditching the pedals, no one has said man I miss such and such in the chorus of that one song. That’s just me.
Variax is what I think it was called. I agree, I always thought the concept was cool, but the actual bass was meh.
I can't wait for all you guys to finish downsizing...and all your tasty old pedals become available! Haha

With regards to downsizing.
It doesn’t seem like a big deal to me to switch up the pedal board based on the set list or songs for that day.
I have relatively small board and own more pedals then could fit on it. The beauty of Velcro is its pretty simple to do.
Playing with my normal band tonight and at church Saturday night will take about ten minutes to swap things out.
It seems like many feel they need this perfect solution that is permanent in their mind that never needs changing.
