I think we get lead astray for lack of a better term, when we listen to "studio" recordings and try to make that happen live. Even the bands themselves don't recreate the the studio sound live. Although thet tube compressor does help a lot.

That was the first thought that came to mind: recording/studio vs. live is a bit different. I think those touches make a much bigger difference in a controlled studio mix. When it's a live/house mix unless you do big changes like those stated above, it's probably not going to be real evident to those listening.

It still matters, and when you hit that perfect tone for a given song it's great, but it's always a balance between chasing those moments and pragmatism.

So I don't understand the CIOKS DC-7 I guess. I need a special cable ( other than the red cable in the box) to run my 12 volt LA-1A. Yet on the unit you can set any of the Chanel's to 9, 12, 15 or 18 volts? The included documentation tells a lot about the cables but not the voltage settings at all.

You need the Cioks 8800 grey split (Y) cable to utilize/combine two outlets which are BOTH set to 12v...the red cable > Y cable, because LA-1A is center positive.

Right I get that, and I'll have the gray cable in a few days. I'm wondering why each channel is labeled like they can do any voltage by itself?

Thank god the rest of my stuff is basic "Boss" or OneSpot power. This fancy stuff is confusing.

I think you are confusing voltage and current. All the outputs should be able to operate at any voltage. You need to use two of them because the LA-1A needs more current than one outlet can provide.

Maybe they are thinking it is implied or something that you reach out to them if something is not working correctly. It may be a situation where most people are using 9v low current pedals and they don't want to try to account for every situation that could be ran into, in the manual. With how much output each outlet has, there are few situations that will need to run two together. Really 500mA at 12V is quite a lot. But tubes do draw a lot of current.

I always do. My TC RH450. No cab, just iems. Here's a pic. Sorry it's not really in focus. Old rendition of my board,too.

Accomplished musicians don't typically compliment me on my skill, or timing, or groove, but I get an oddly high number of compliments on my tone from those folks. Pretty sure the TC is the reason why. Was happening even before I had my Dingwall bass.

It fits perfectly in an old laptop bag I have that has tons of compartments/pockets and room for other gear. Laptop bag on one shoulder, pedalboard over the other, bass guitar in one hand, and I still have a spare hand to lock the truck and get into the building.

I dig the Dingwall. We all knew they were versatile but it's nice to actually see one outside the metal scene. I bet it cuts surgically in a mix with a little overdrive on it.

Perfect analogue, "cuts surgically", haha. I wouldn't have believed it possible to cut through as well as it does. There's a surprising number of folks in this and the P&W threads with them (spiritbass, KirkJohnson, NaH, a couple others that I'm not totally sure about, Flabzilla?). I'd almost say the Dingwalls outnumber the Roscoes, but I don't want to risk starting a fight, haha.

This model comes in a lefty version...just sayin' (and just lookin' at your avatar pic).

I sold my Sadowsky Pre/DI and my other Boss tuner (when I thought about a church board and a cover band board) last night. Still have my Big Muff but it isn't worth selling/shipping so I'll keep it until I can sell it locally or something.

I think this is the model I will try for now. I have my Nano board with a tuner/mute pedal, the tube compressor and the Rolls for my IEM's. Selling the pedals paid for the CIOKS DC-7 to power it all. I can use that in front of my amp (to get the tube compressor goodness) for the occasional jazz and singer/songwriter type gigs I have during the summer mostly.

For my DI/IEM/Silent Stage gigs I am going to try my MG350 as a preamp/DI and see how it goes. Bird in hand as someone said to me.

I have been tempted to buy a Bergantino HG410 cab and get a Forte HP head (it has everything I would need - compressor, HP/LP filter, drive, etc. all built in) and use that as my DI/IEM/Silent Stage rig (just have the Rolls next to it for my IEM's) and of course for gigs that require an amp. Still not sure. It would sound amazing in both situations, but it would cost a lot, and selling/shipping these days (my current Genzler gear) is tough and expensive. A Bergantino rig like that would certainly get me closer to the sound I'm hearing when recording. More drivers is more sound, and more low end.

IDK. The usual Steve stuff.
