Iirc, you have an LA-1A, too? Looks like your preferring Apex>S1>Noble???
It’s a nice compact board, so I use this at church. The LA-1A has replaced the Cali76CB (which is still a great compressor) in my home setup.
No answer from Effectrode. The Boost doesn’t work when using the 600 Ohm output. You also get no sound if you turn the “effect” off.
This is maybe better here than the other thread. Tried my Genzler head as my DI. Sound guy didn’t notice like when I added the LA. He said it sounded good. Guitar player noticed a little more definition. I thought I did as well.
I don’t know that it’s enough of a difference to fork out the money to go all Bergantino - great as it is and it was the other option when I went Genzler. Maybe some sort of EQ is all I need. Not a preamp? What’s the difference? I would still need my Rolls and a tuner so I think I’ll just hold for now. Wire up the DC7 power supply and work with my Genzler some more.
The Khan DI is intriguing though as the 1/4” through is effects by the tube (unlike say the REDDI) so when I use the board with my amp, I’ll get all the tune stuff there as well. That could be nice after the LA-1A.
Edit: of course by the time I spend $600 on the Khan and an eq or something, I may as well get a Noble or whatever.
Or just use the LA as my DI, not worry about the Boost/Effect off not working and leave it as is. Everyone liked that tone. Run it through my Genzler head if I’m feeling like taking one more thing along.
I’ve never needed more than my little MG350/12T-V combo could put out.
Go back to looking at a Sub 37 for my synth instead of my Korg. Now there’s a noticeable upgrade.

Used my normal board this morning.
I had made some changes.
Swapped in a Genalux tube in for the stock (JJ?) in the Oracle.
Added a LBA 2020 between the LA-1A and the Oracle. During trials at home decided the 2020 was a little too much, and took it back out.
The Genalux tube was a little touchier than the JJ on the gain, so I had to be a little more careful with that.
In the end it seemed velvety smoove during service this morning. We did have 45 in attendance this morning, wearing masks.

I know. I do that to people. But really, my rig has always been fine for what I need, and the Nano as is is killer. I think if anything maybe a Noble after the LA would kill. Really it’s the La-1A that needs to stay. It’s changed my sound completely in the best way.Steve, you’re killing me!

Need to up my synth game too as my MicroKorg is the weak link in my and the bands gear/sound.
You mentioned a Sub 37 and I said quietly to myself. Yes. That’s the next step.
Oracle. Skip the Noble. That's all you need. Well, it works beautifully for me. I'm not changing.
Actually, there’s a lot of stuff at church, all that long sustained stuff, that would be really good on a synth. I’ve mentioned that to the WL before who whole heartedly agreed.
After a little research I think I’m gonna go with the Sub Phatty instead of the Sub 37
So a couple of things. A.) Price difference B.) Less controls which for me, would be better. C.) Has the bass synth sound I'm looking for. Here's a link I found that kinda sold me.

Yeah, I agree. After having put my LA-1a in front of an Oracle and Noble the Oracle/LA-1a combo is the winner IMHO. It is the more spatial, punchy, and colorful combination. If you need the XLR out and don’t want a separate box than the Noble is a fine choice too.
I will say my Hyper Luminal/Oracle combo is pretty good. I like the pop it gives my sound.
Sub Phatty or Sub 25 huh? So I just mentioned to my wife that I think we need to get a keyboard for the cats. And maybe I could play it at church occasionally.
Can’t disagree with A or C. However...
B) maybe? In the synth world there’s often a big emphasis on one knob per function. sub 37 has that. Sub phatty/sub 25 will hide settings behind “shift” keys so fine tuning some settings will require a learning curve/looking it up in the manual.
I’ve very much been on the fence for some type of synth bass for a loooong time. Sub Phatty/25, or Sub 37 would do the trick, no doubt. Anyone have experience with a Novation Bass station II and can compare it with a Moog?
I guess it will just depend on what you’re more comfortable with in the end. But for me, if I’m looking for a synth that kind of does one specific job, I just want to do it well. I would definitely want to try it out in person.
