It actually does a LOT more than just a tube-sim type of thing. You can use it either as an overdrive, a distortion (since it has both circuits), a boost, or a simple EQ. It's also got the Funkulator mid-scoop in it, so you could use it for slap bass as well.

And I agree on the Vapor Trail.

Kind of like a VMT...but sweeter and more natural sounding, easier to dial in, and without killing your original tone.

I've been eyeing the Grizzly for a little while now, so thanks for the info. I didn't realize that it also had the Funkulator circuit in it. That's pretty cool.

Yeah, so if you really wanted to, you could use just that knob (lower left) and have the Funkulator on your board. With the treble bleed (lower right), you can get some nice, thicker tones that work really well once you dial in a little OD (top middle) or Distortion (top right).

Freeze is a really cool pedal! My guitarist has one and we use it pretty frequently for adding body to slower songs or just general atmosphere for open worship. We did find that it sometimes had a harsh metallic type sound to it, but now he runs it in front of a chorus and that seems to smooth it out. Haven't had a chance yet to try it on bass. Do you like it?

I absolutely love it. It's one pedal that won't be leaving. I only use the latch setting because I do swells with a TC Electronic Alter Ego (sweet delay. I only use it for swells on bass). Especially if your team is lacking in a synth department, this will help cover that. I will bring in a swell (like a 1-5-8 or 1-10 chord) and latch it. It's great for intros endings (letting a low C rumble is powerful) and transitions.

A few things I don't like:
1) It can be hard to get used to. You have to latch a note right after it's played, not on the beat. If you don't, you get the beginning of the note which sounds super hideous.
2) the knob: I will be changing it to probably an OKnob so I can adjust with me foot more easily.
3) the click is pretty loud to engage it. Not like all EHX Pedals but it's loud enough to be heard on stage when disengaging it.
But the effectiveness of the pedal completely overshadows all of those.

I currently use a TU-2 and a Radial JDI. That's it. We also use Rolls PM50S boxes for wired IEM needs. I only need the Rolls and Radial at church. I use my amp at home. I have all 3 on a Pedaltrain Nano. Works great. I leave my board at church and let other bass players use it when they sub.

I'd like to build a new/additional board that I can use at home and at church. I'd like to have a compressor and chorus for sure along with a tuner. I have a special cord to use with this set up that has and extension for my IEM that runs up my bass cable. Works great but it kind of locks me in to this set up.

Not sure how to tie my new board in with this set up - with the cord custom made for this. I could do a completely independent board I guess and make a new cable.

I like this set up as it is very clean and simple. Works so well.

It seems that you would use a couple of short instrument style cables to connect the two boards, and your special cable would be unaffected. It would be adding an insert loop. I PM'ed you - we could chat about it.

I suppose. Just set my "effects" board in front of my current "DI/IEM" board and take the out from the tuner into the first pedal on the "effects" board and go from the last pedal on the "effects" board to the JDI. Something like that?

That's one easy way. I've also split them on different sides of a mic stand using two 2 footers, but you've got the idea.

I had a reverb (Boss RV-5) and found that it was pretty useless. With IEMs it made my bass sound a little fuller, but it also made it muddier in the room, which is was really matters. I use a little chorus (with a delay) when I do swells, but aside from that, I'd never use it otherwise.
I've actually heard that a Joyo OCD on guitar sounds better than the Fulltone! But I don't know how reliable they are...

That's what I'm afraid of if I pull the trigger. I feel like it might add a little something with that shimmer when I go higher up on the neck, but I'm just struggling to actually justify the purchase. Maybe a chorus, as you mentioned, would be more of what I'm looking for. Either way, the board already changed. Just decided to switch out the LPB for a Sonic Stomp; fill things out a bit more rather than just make it louder. We're going on tour for our travel team starting in June so I've got some time to figure out just what I want.

I've used it with my J at a couple different locations in the past week - absolutely loving the tone I'm getting from it...so happy to have found the pieces to give me the sound I've been looking for! Haven't used it live with my P or EUB yet, but I'm confident it'll handle those well too. Can't think of anything else I need at this point.

So here's an update, I scaled down a bit from a pt2 to a jr. I used to always go direct but nothing I tried (VT bass, EBS Valvedrive, JDI) got the sound I love from my SVT CL. So now I'm throwing my amp behind stage and micing it again.
Tonight I'm doing an "acoustic" set where I'll be trying to do ambience stuff. Any ideas? So far I'm using my Jazz Fretless with the El Capistan as a reverb, the POG2 as a pad or organ, the mini boost for some sub bass.
