Yet half way to a used HX Stomp which you've also been talking about.$250 isn't bad.

I use the Shiftline Olympic so the tubes in the LA-1A may be redundant for me too. I don't want the top end to be super soft so the Empress might be a better match. Maybe I'll try the Empress and work in a boost somewhere else. Currently I'm using the DBX 160a version in my Zoom MS-60B which seems to help brighten up the top side.
I love the LED metering on the Empress! Yes, very clean. I am quite impressed. The Cali76 CB is a killer pedal, and it has a bit of it's own sound to it. The Empress seems more neutral so far. I have only used it at church a few times so far, and had the Cali76CB since it was released. I would be happy with either one, but the metering won me over!![]()
The REDDI is an awesome world class DI. Doesn't require anything else to sound excellent. With a plain DI (or no DI as I ran mine as the DI) the LA-1A is amazing. I didn't feel like it did as much when I decided to go with a REDDI as my DI. That thing sounds so good all by itself I'm not sure I want/need to add a compressor back in. I played without one for a long time. I am now and everyone loves my tone so...maybe if it ain't broke I don't need to fix it.
I tend to think that as well. I look for excuses to add gear but my goal was to get as efficient a "rig" as possible. This seems to be it. The only way I could have less gear is to use my Genzler MG350 head as my DI. I have thought about it, but the REDDI is built for the floor more than the head. Although the combo (head on a single 12 can) isn't that much to haul around. The REDDI is an awesome world class DI. Doesn't require anything else to sound excellent.
Do you use the BMS or the original microsynth?Yesterday - 4 songs; 4 different pedals used. A first for me. Felt a little creative.
This is Amazing Grace - Darkglass Vintage Microtubes as usual (and a pick as usual also) - Perfection for this song. I actually ran it a little higher breakup than I normally do where the audience could definitely hear the grit on it.
Chain Breaker - EHX Microsynth, full guitar, about 1/3 both octaves, square wave less than 1/8, Both filters about 75% (same), no resonance or delay. Just subtle shimmer effect on top to make the song bigger and it really worked.
Never Once - dUg pedal (DPX-3 Tech 21). Don't freak - No drive/crunch engaged only the green lights, no reds. Just used the high compression and full smoothness this pedal adds with unlimited sustain. Lot's of whole notes on this tune. Really had a nice foundation.
Made Me Glad - MXR Bass Chorus Delux with crossover engaged so when I"m playing in the higher register in some spots and some fills, it sings a little.
I really enjoyed this set.

My latest pedalboard revision, after my Arkham Oracle came in this week. I'll get to try it out at church rehearsal this evening.

I've seen some on YouTube...Is there a thread or a place for worship bassists to share and discuss HX Stomp patches, best practices, etc?
I'm using my stomp for the first time on Sunday and I'm looking for resources.

I'm back to the basics for now. Picked up a Mono Tick to go with my case since I've been on the move a lot lately for various events.
