There are a few factors at play. It really depends on the sound system, FOH engineer, and style of music. Saturated bass tends to fit in a mix really nice when done correctly. Does not sound distorted at all when everyone is playing.
For sure. I have used a "saturated" tone a couple times. It worked fine. I guess I have always been a "clean" or "core" bass guy.
I used a patch on my Boss GTKCORE on Sunday that had a saturated tone using a parallel split. In my IE's it was a little on the dirty side, but when I listened to the online playback, it fit perfectly in the mix.
Helix/Stomp users, any suggestions to get the EHX Microbass Synth tones typically used in worship settings? I have no experience in fuzz/synth so not sure even where to begin.
I don't have experience with the EHX but I use the Stomp synths often. I honestly just played them all one by one and played with the waves etc until I found something that fits. I am traveling, back on 1/4. I can check my patches then and share. I THINK I use one called "String Theory"? Don't remember more from top of mind.

I don't have an exact EHX-style patch, but in general, a good synth formula on the HXS would be Boctaver, chorus or fuzz of your choice, then Auto filter. Those would cover a lot of ground and give you some insight for putting together something synthy!

dude that is super clean. I think i have the same board. Is that a riser on yours? Idk what most of your pedals are. Can you talk us through the flow of them and how you use them? Also how you get it to look that clean. Here's mine

I've been using a variation of this over the last couple of weeks. This was the first week to break out the big amp though (behind curtain 8x10).
This has been super fun. Only pedals I'm not 100% sold on are the MBD-2, and the C4. I think the C4 I'm just wanting to try the BMS thing. MBD because I'm very particular about my dirt sound.
I know the stage is a mess right now. We are in the process of expanding and we are about to rerun everything.

I have used several but this is what I stayed with. Chorus is optional, the sweep echo is an effect for breakdowns etc the mod/chorus echo helps to make it feel less dry. Have fun!

I have the Deluxe on my analog board. Haven't tried it through a system yet, but it sounds AMAZING in my IEM's. The low and high shelving (on the Deluxe) are the keys to getting a "cab sound" without a cab simulator. Took my REDDI/Empress Bass Compressor board to the next level. I'm going to bring it to church next week to try in a real life situation with a real system.
You'll have to report back after you have used it at church. I am fairly certain I will pull the trigger on it.

I may be selling it. I am seriously debating going to a Stomp XL but have yet to pull the trigger. My Analog stuff sounds amazing, but the Stomp I use at church is SO CLOSE and so much smaller, lighter and more versatile. We'll see.
