Ohh the luxuary - last time I think I had 3-4 hours

Been doing this so long it doesn't bother me any more and I can usually very quickly learn anything new either Sat night if I have time to run through or Sun morn before I head to our band run through.
Only time it ever bothers me is when I also find out at the same time that I have to lead on guitar. Then I break out my iPad with iScore and my Blue tooth page turner gets thrown into my pedal board case. I really need the help when playing guitar.
wow, i'm jealous...we get about 3 days before Thursday rehearsal, 7 songs. Not too much time, and I always memorize. hard sometimes. Edit: there are some that give 4 days, but it's rare.

Just wondering if anyone in here who uses IEMs during worship primarily practices at home through headphones, and if so what preamp / DI do you use? I know there's plenty of preamp / DI topics, and I am looking through them, but it's harder to find thoughts on ones that specifically you can plug headphones into.
I currently use a VTDI that goes straight to the board by XLR. Silent stage so use Shure IEMs through Allen & Heath personal mixer. I'm pretty happy with the sound of my P bass with CS62 pickups through the mixer. But at home I'm increasingly finding I'm not playing much due to the effort it takes to plug everything in.
I can't easily have my Ampeg practice amp out all the time, and just having to carry it into whatever room I want to play in, plug it in, and plug cables into & out of my board (which itself needs plugging in too!) then into the amp, just to play at low volume (it's loud even at volume 1), seems like such a PITA. I can at least plug the earphones into the amp, but I keep feeling like I'd rather just plug into a DI at the end of my board and not even have to use the amp during practice. My Nano board with PSU under, all cables etc, are all in a rucksack, so I love the thought that anytime I want to play at home, I could just grab my bass and bag without having to drag an amp around. It will save my back too.
I think the Tech21 stuff (VTDI, BDDI, Q Strip, etc) is only really let down by not giving a headphone option. Is there a comprehensive list anywhere of preamp / DI units that headphones can be plugged into? I've ruled out Ampeg SCR-DI on the big footprint & negative comments I've read on the Scrambler circuit (I have drive pedals for that), but am interested in general thoughts on these, and specifically which ones are good for home headphone practice. I don't need a load of bells and whistles, something simple but with real nice tone will do, preferably with cab sim options. Don't need extra drive channel. Also please mention any I may have missed. I'm in the UK. Thanks . . .

Fellow VTDI enjoyer here, but also agree that not having a headphone out is a bit of a bummer.
You could add the Darkglass Element and Broughton Messenger to your list. The latter may be hard to find, but the former should be easy enough.
Thanks. Darkglass Element looks interesting, but I think I'd prefer analog though, not into the idea of having to plug a pedal into a PC to load stuff onto it. Also why on Earth does it have 2 headphone inputs?! Also I guess it has the same 'baked in' sound that other DG pedals have?

I am running everything through an HX Stomp these days, including IEMs hook up. However, used to use a Rolls unit at the end of my board and could use that for silent practice. PM50se Personal Monitor Amp | Rolls Corporation - Real Sound
It lets you use your actual board and tone for silent practice as well as monitoring during your live sets.
Shift Line Olympic is fantastic but a bit overboard if you're just using it for home practice.
Broughton Messenger very good as well.
If you're just looking for home practice and don't really care much if the sound is the best you've ever heard the NUX Melvin Preamp is much more affordable and plenty capable of providing quality headphone practice sessions.
I use the Nux for practice and worship service duties. Wonderful piece of high value kit.

Thanks. It's certainly not just for home practice, it's something to go at the end of my Nano board with XLR out to desk, and effectively replace the VTDI, which doesn't allow earphones. SLO models don't come up for sale in the UK that often but I love the Patrick Hunter demo of the latest one on YouTube

One fairly affordable option is the DBX DI4 (dbx DI4) I take my pedalboard out into one channel of this and connect an iPad or computer for any tracks I want to play over top of. It could sit at home and just plug into when you want headphones. another bonus tip is I sometimes use an old Lexicon unit to give add stereo reverb to simply give a bit more space to my bass in my head phones, but that's adding some complexity to the setup initially. Again whole thing sits at home independent of my board.
