There are major problems with the electrical system at my church and I am getting a constant buzz. For this weekend I am using the tuner out of my head (Glock Blue Soul) and am only using the Darkglass VMTD and Super Symmetry. For some reason, the worst offender was a passive Radial Big Shot switch box, followed by a new Turbo Tuner and then the Red Witch Factotum and 3Leaf Wonderlove! We tried multiple cables and three different DI's (two cheapies and a Radial JDI of mine). The church is the ONLY place that has that kind of buzz.

I'm wondering if it might be the solar panels. The church generates about 80% of the power each month with the solar cells - but that would be weird!

I work for an electrical contractor who installs solar systems. I wouldn't expect that a solar system would cause these problems, although it is possible. Is the circuit that you're plugging in your rig into generated from the same panel that the solar inverter is connected to?

I don't think so...there is a huge control panel (16feet long, 8 high and 2 1/2 deep) but I *think* that is a converter and feeds the power grid at the same time as we pull from the grid. I have to admit, my wife is the electrician in the family - her Dad was an electrician and she helped. The rest of the trades I can do well but I have ceded electrical work to her (except for switch replacement...that even someone like me can do!)

I created a small board with just the essentials and I organized the pedals in a way that will comfortably fit the case I am putting them in. The only thing is that my input is between the mxr and tuner pedals so I am going to have to buy an instrument cable with at least one angled end (which I am okay with, I have to buy a cable with one angled end anyway since I lost my other one).

However, I don't know if I should buy a cable with two angled ends or just one. Lol its cause I kinda have a feeling that using an angled end on the side of my bass and then looping it around the strap would be easier than having a straight ended cable and looping it around the strap. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this?

I angle both ends. Works for my current set up.

I always have an angled end for the bass side. If I'm going to my tuner on my board I use angle. If I'm going into my amp I use straight.

As a newer player, and the only electric player, I typically bring a little more gear each time I play but have not brought any effects per se just yet. First time it was just my 1x12 combo and I wasn't even sure they would let me use that. In subsequent weeks I added a compressor, a DI a graphic EQ and a second 1x12 cab.

My Noble Preamp/DI and Markbass compressor both sit on top of the amp. I also have a MB 7 band EQ unit that is Velcro attached to the inside back/port of my amp (to save space on top and to avoid looking like overkill).

At some point, I'll bring my EHX POG and/or Tech21 Chorus along, but we typically have more of an acoustic vibe, so it may be some time before there is a player and/or song mix where it makes sense.

My current setup

Very nice setup. I've had the same 3leaf Octabvre Mini for about 2 months now, but I finally got to use it this weekend. Love it....I think it has a permanent home. When looking for "the perfect octave" pedal, I had truly decided on purchasing an older Boss OC-2....until I found the 3leaf. It seems to be able to dial in and sound just like the OC-2, but also has some other synthetic octave tone also.
I have the same tuner, which will never go, but tell me about the Noble. I've seen them quite a bit lately, but I haven't looked into them.

I just wouldn't know what to do with all those pedals at church - or other gigs. Wish I could as I have a little GAS but don't need a new bass or amp. :-(

What are you guys using all these reverb and delay pedals for? It seems like that would really muddy things up on the bottom end-even in a big room with a great PA. The only thing I can imagine using delay for is creating synth or string like swells/sustains underneath things.

Only speaking for myself: my board is a guitar/bass combo board. So there is a lot of stuff on it that I use for guitar that I don't regularly use for bass (and vice versa), and I especially don't use for bass live.
