The struggle is real! I just blew up my small board again last night... Probably won't even be the last time this month
Funny enough I blew up the small board last night so I could try it out with my new COG T-47.
Forgot to take a picture at church but this is the board used today. Lusithand is a slight upgrade over the HX stomp compressors (the deluxe and tube compressors are really good).
No modulation or octave used today. Only HX Stomp Teemah! block as a gain boost for big song sections.

I've been trying to determine the best dirt/boost block. I've been using the Red Llama block. Will have to give Teemah! a run.

This morning there were just three of us - leader on acoustic, one electric guitar and me. I took my Thunderbird Classic Pro as it's the mellowest of my basses. With a larger band I've been leaving the Tumnus Deluxe on pretty much full time and running the flanger at ~ 2 o'clock (not always on). Today I left the Tumnus off for most songs and used the flanger more but at about 10 o'clock for a more synthy vibe. It worked great.
I was wondering if anyone uses a filter pedal? I have had a number of them in the past, but sold them. I could never make them work for the music. Now that I'm playing worship music, and there are a lot of effects going on, I thought I might revisit it.
I use an Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe for a very solid Synth Bass tone. Using an expression pedal with it allows me to control the sweep, rather than relying on the envelope, so I can match dynamics during builds and such.
For my synth bass tones I run:
Octave > Dirt/Fuzz > IE XD > Chorus/Reverb/Delay

But, I've since reworked it, moving the DCX under the board which freed up room for a Doom 2 up top.
It's yet to be seen if I can also get the Hiero BEAD to fit as well... If not, I'll likely swap the Doom 2 & BEAD as needed.
I'm currently using a Octabvre MKIII & trialing the T-47. If the T-47 sticks, I most certainly will only have room for one fuzz.
I've also used an Aguilar Octamizer & EBS OctaBass 3-Knob (among others) and they are both solid options that track well and range from OC-2ish to Mutronish tones, with a little bit of their own unique flavor to boot.
Holy moly nice board man! That LVX....man I want one of those and the Mercury X. Superb gear my man. What's your take on the t47 so far?

The LVX is amazing! I haven't tried the Mercury X, and frankly probably won't... Although the LVX doesn't have the Mercury algorithms, it does reverb very well, as well as a whole lot more that the MX can't. Between the LVX and the H9, I think I'm more than covered for my time-based & modulation effect needs. (This is me desperately attempting to avoid yet another GAS attack!
)I like the T-47, but it may not get as smooth as I like for my non-synth more traditional octave needs. It's grittiness is great for synth bass and when I use more aggressive drive settings, but I'll have to play around with it a bit more before I decide if it'll replace the Octabvre. Playing clean with just a little -1 mixed in, filter set towards the OC-2 tones I'm still hearing a very low level gritty tone I'm not in love with.
With that said, I tried it on my primary board and don't recall noticing it as much as when I tried it on my smaller board where it is very evident. So, with the thought that it might have something to do with the signal chain or it not liking to share power with one pedal or another (I split power between two pedals on several taps from the 1Spot CS6), I tore the small board apart, tried multiple different configurations and eliminated all power splitting to no avail. The next thought was that although unlikely it may be an issue with proximity to the CS6.
Obviously, rather than just put it back on the big board to verify whether or not it has the same sound with it there, the only thing to do here is to upgrade the power supply
... so I now have a Cioks DC7 + C8E on the way.

Yeah I noticed it wasnt as smooth either compared to my BOD. When I use the BOD I usually stay between 9th and 12th and it brings a smooth, reliable rumble with little to no artifacts. I noticed with the t47 it was much more prone to artifacts. I have to focus more on playing dynamics or it would glitch, which honestly I guess isnt a bad thing. Would like to try the t-65 and how it does at some point.
Interesting. Tracking is one of my biggest concerns, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it tracks perfectly for me. Within a fraction of a percent as good as the Octabvre MKIII.
I've found that with other octavers I've played that typically have more issues with tracking, rolling back the treble & rolling up the bass on my instrument DRAMATICALLY improves tracking without radically changing the tone.
HX Stomp + lots of extras in the Classifieds, if anyone is looking to jump on the modeling train.
